I think he has caused more people to wake up to the failure that is the federal government. In that regard he may just be the best president in recent history.
I did read the article. I didn't say I agreed with the headline matching the content. If you read my note that I posted with it I briefly explained how I think he may actually have improved the government by making more people aware of how terrible it is.
Sorry rdub76, I did not mean to imply that you did not read the article. My post was addressed to others who got on this this thread who might have rejected the article based on the headline, but nevertheless posted. Obama has certainly woken a significant number of people up to "the failure that is the federal government."
One way to get readers to read an article is with a provocative headline. The author makes a point that Obama's policies may be the cleanest dirty shirt among recent presidents as far as libertarian ideals go. That's not to say that he has not been diametrically opposed to such ideals on other occasions, but read the article before you post.
They make an interesting case Straight. What if he proves to be the most Libertarian President of the post Cold War era? As disasterous as he has been they are only comparing him to GHW Bush, Clinton and W. Three mediocre presidents. If Jeb and Hillary are the choices in 2016 I don't see things getting much better. If he turns out to be the most Libertarian I hope we find a real Gulch to escape to.
I read that headline and skipped the story temporarily. I just couldn't stomach the headline.
A couple of months before, didn't one of their authors suggest a mandatory minimum salary for moochers? Reason Magazine has become unreasonable in some cases.
After reading this thread, maybe I'll go back and read the article.
