Democrats haven't been this upset since Republicans freed their slaves.
I saw this posted on Facebook and the immediately, remarkable response, was "ouch!" It hits home deep in the American psyche. Dixie was solidly Democratic, without a murmur from the Democratic leadership, and with ALL powerful Congressional chairman Dixiecrats of long tenure, up until there was a gradual but powerful shift as the South came to favor limited government, the rights of the states, and, especially, the goodness of American military power in the world--at which point, during the Goldwater campaign, the South made a sweeping change of alliance to the Republicans as the new upholders of liberty. And the Democrats, New Left, Liberals went on beating up the South for the tendencies that once made it solid Democratic.
"Democrats want all of your money, Republicans only want half."
