As always the central planner solution doesn't mention free markets or the rule of law which are the real issues leading to starvation.

The problem in countries where the population faces starvation generally start at the tip of a warlord's subordinate's gun. This is yet another altruistic approach to solving the problem. It will be interesting to see if it works more effectively to achieve its goals. Of course, the problem won't be solved permanently until there is liberty in those countries rather than oppression. When these countries are ready to shed their oppressors, they will overthrow their governments (usually dictatorships) first. Interference by the US or anyone else will not solve this problem.

"The Prime Directive is not just a set of rules; it is a philosophy... and a very correct one. History has proven again and again that whenever mankind interferes with a less developed civilization, no matter how well intentioned that interference may be, the results are invariably disastrous."
    – Jean Luc Picard, 2364 ("Symbiosis")

AR could have written the Prime Directive.

Damn pesky rules. How can we steal the natural resources from the people/primitives if we follow that stupid Constitution. It's just a GD piece of paper.
(Didn't we stage that terrorist attack to give us an excuse, a rallying cry with the voters? Stop bothering me with legalities!)

This is just another form of, "if all private property was grabbed and given to everyone, utopia would follow."

The truth is something much much more brutal.

Once upon a time, there was taught a thing called common sense. For example:
Give a man a fish, and you have fed him once. Teach him how to fish and you have fed him for a lifetime.

There was no mention of stealing a man's land and feeding him forever while he watches boring sit-coms set in NYC.
