India is being destroyed by, not a foreign entity but it's own people. Socialists are hellbent in bankrupting us and will eventually within the next five years. One country we adored, the USA, is today a poor replica of Mid 20th century China. No one can save us but right minded people like Mr. Modi (A leader whole India is putting trust on to get us rid of evil socialism) & Mr. Subramanium Swamy. I want to meet fellow Ayn Rand followers/Objectivists in Mumbai and make a group to achieve our goals. I can bet my life on the fact that any rational being would agree with me and if you are an objectivist we can unite and change our country. Please contact me at 8898699175. My name is Shantanu uniyal and i want to stop the motor of my country.

    Hello nincompoop2008
The name can raise an eyebrow. Anyway, greetings.
Yes what you say is my perception. For a few years it looked like India was really moving forward in opening-up the economy. Now it appears there is a regression towards protection and featherbedding certain professions and industries. Let's hope that opening-up direction returns.
Where I am the Indian call centres are an endless joke, on the other hand we benefit from many top professionals from India, my GP is a Sikh, speaks well, and knows his stuff.

Thank you very much Lucky. Unfortunately, words you like as a teenager do not sound so appropriate (cool) after some years.

Anyways, we are known as the call centre or back office of the world and this tag will take many more years to remove.

The saddest part is, we consider this to be a title rather than something to be ashamed of. There is a historical reason behind it. The british colonized us and were breeding clerks for their administration through the education system.
Apparently, we are still following that model in our education system.

Anyways, i am not here to let the world know about how pathetic our education system is or how shameful it is to take pride in being the body shop of the world. I am here to get support from objectivists of India( if any, because of our religious preaching) and unite for a leader who is the closest to being a capitalist, the world has seen for the last 5 decades. I would like you fellow men to read about Mr. Narendra Modi. He is one leader most expected to come out of a developed country like USA but surprisingly you have someone like Obama.

I need to learn more about your country, since my only perception is that it is a fairly good example of democracy (and capitalism) doing well.

    Stay tuned, sports fans!

I just got my phone line back...so I'll pass!

Besides: Every time I get Indian phone help for a computer program issue, I spend way too much time trying to understanding the 'simple' steps I am supposed to do.

I lost a good deal of my hearing range from too many flight hours, and although this comes in handy around the 'bride', it makes dealing with foreign dialect almost suicidal!

My apologies LetsShrug/Rocky_Road. Apparently, i was opening up your replies on a apple devise and i felt the unfair comments are directed towards me and my heritage.

After opening it over a laptop i understood what is happening. May we start with a clean slate please?

no offense nincompoop, but your username inspires a little joking around. As well, including your phone number out of the country is a little odd. We get many trolls in here when the newsletter goes out. I do think the Indian economy will continue to be hampered by certain religious beliefs and cultural traditions. In order to be a true free market, your country needs to have the foundation of natural rights.
Another large failure for India was accepting the Kyoto treaty, diverting resources towards unproven environmental regulatory practices and not focusing on the very basic environmental problems facing India-water and disease.

I never thought of that L.S., but you may be on to something!

Anyways: someone is getting his dhoti in a wad, although I originally blamed my hearing loss on the comprehension issue.

            Oh, well.

Didn't Gandhi once say that "life is a feast...and then you fast"?

we are in a world of ideological hurt over here. and it is true, what with all the educational indoctrination going on we can't seem pop out enough engineers and scientists. and although once we were the technological leaders of the world, burdensome regulations and poor economic policies have pushed the entrepreneurial high tech titans either out of the country or into hiding. we are now just queen of the "me too" tech. Not disruptive at all.

            I thought you sounded familiar!

I spent a year one night trying to understand you say, "now crick on the furst uption on the drip-dun minu..."

Are toads sacred in India? Like the cows?

I can only hope so...so I can finally get my "life mate". ;-)

I submit that no one's accent is superior than another's.

There are some that I just can't follow...I watch British movies with the sub-titles on, so I know what is going on.

      Hello Rocky,
Please accept my apologies once again.

This is the impression (successful 'democracy') world has. In-fact, we are slowly moving towards being a failed democracy and if the ruling party( a bunch of socialists/left leaning/left of the centre-UPA) comes into power again.

Today the choice is between what uneducated, illiterate
moochers prefer or what the educated middle class wants.

Unfortunately, moochers are three times the educated class and it is a foregone conclusion that left leaning, pseudo seculars-UPA will come into power again.

That will be disastrous for a civilization which goes back 5000 years. This will not only affect us but your country as well.

"Today the choice is between what uneducated, illiterate
moochers prefer or what the educated middle class wants."

That's the U'S. in a nutshell...and it will take a generation to change.

No need to apologize. My second post pointed out that I have a hearing problem from my years of flying, and that was what I contributed to having problems understanding MANY dialects, yours included.

My first post was sincere, where I stated that I need to learn more about India....

"Fairly Good"?? We r receiving news about India from Fox News, r we not? No wonder.

Sir for your information, our country is a brilliant example of what all might go wrong in a democratic country.

And i apologise for offending you because i expect people in this group at-least to know what is capitalism. We are a mixed economy, nowhere close to capitalism.

are you in India or the US? Because I am confused as to which country you are referring to. Both the US and India are a mixed economy. The US still has a much higher economic freedom index than India, however. For India, re-structuring the legal system to provide better protection of rights and reducing the level of corruption is key. The US, however, is losing ground on the corruption front as evidenced most recently with several shocking govt scandals. Power corrupts.
Here is a link to the Heritage's Economic Freedom Index:

Hello Khalling. I am in India but i read a lot about US due to Ayn Rand. I understand we are very close in-terms of aspirations but was shocked how a country in which Atlas Shrugged was based, elected a guttersnipe like Obama.

You should not have been shocked. America has been slowly transforming from a society based on individual rights to one based on collectivism for the past 100 years.
