Fittingly, the pope commemorated Thursday's kick-off game of the World Cup – a global tournament that has so far cost host nation Brazil at least $15 billion and sparked violent protest by the country’s disenfranchised poor.

    I agree with the Pope. Crony Capitalism/Socialism/Communism/Fascism have had their chance and have all widened the wealth gap in the favor of the ruling class and those who could afford to buy them.

    He made the correct assessment of the patient (the global economy) but was incorrect as to its causes. I liked Pope John Paul II. He was as important as anyone at bringing down Communism. However, Pope Francis is ... not my favorite.
