According to Fox News, Boehner has called for the government to send the National Guard to the border. The assimilation of the State Militias into the federal army is now complete.

So, Washington is going to send, say, the Iowa National Guard to Texas? I hadn't noticed that these kids were armed; exactly why do we need citizen-soldiers to fight them off?

Sending National Guardsmen to the border is up to the border States, not the feds.

One of the few federal responsibilities is national border protection. If states sent their own national guard citizen-soldiers to defend the border, the feds would order them to stand down.

  The feds can't order them to stand down, that's my point. The "national guard", nee State militias belong to the governors, not the President.
  
  That whole 2nd Amendment thing... it's about protecting the sovereignty of the States, not of the Union...
