Beautiful, tenacious, and fearless, Dagny Taggart has inspired women and men alike for over 50 years.

As Atlas Shrugged Part 3 heads to production, some major decisions still lay ahead. For the past several months, we've read all over the web everything from "Taylor was PERFECT!" to "Samantha IS Dagny!" to "You should have case [INSERT NAME HERE]!"

Now it's time for you to tell us directly. Who is Dagny Taggart?

Taylor from Part 1? Samantha from Part 2? If you had to pick someone else, who would it be? Beyond her ability to embody the character of Dagny Taggart, what else should be considered when casting Dagny? Should she already be an advocate of Ayn Rand's ideas? Should she have at least read Atlas?

The Actor should definitely have read Atlas Shrugged, at least before filming begins, so that they can best portray Dagny. If I had to choose from part 1 and 2 I would choose Taylor from part 1. Although, I wouldn't mind if they cast someone different entirely.
Dagny is difficult to cast because she is so incredible. Rand describes her as being elegantly beautiful, strong, poised, and commanding. I have been in love with Dagny since I first read Rand in college.

Taylor was best of the two actresses. But as huge Ayn Rand Atlas Shrugged fan, I would have loved to see Angelina Jolie as the gorgeous but tough as nails leader of the railroad.

Why in the world would a movie be completely recast in the second installment?! It was ludicrous.
I loved the original cast. The second one absolutely not! Stick with one or the other but please don't recast yet again.

I did not have an issue either actress. My issue was all of the actors changed. WHen you read a book or see part 1 of a movie you have an idea of who the characters are and how they look - Part 2 changed that. While I didn;t mind how they looked, I HATED that the actors changed. I had to relearn who all of the characters were by thier faces. I think the cast from Part 1 was the cast from the book.

Taylor was much more fitting than Samatha. I generally think Part 1's cast was better than Part 2's.

Other ideas: Lena Headey, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Rose Byrne,

And after reading all the comments, I have to disagree about everyone. Almost all the actors in two were better.
If I didn't know better, I would think the cast from one were the main producers in the gulch. lol

Angelina Jolie was tagged to play Dagny until I believe the contractual rights to the movie by another company expired. I really looked forward to that as I believe she would have been super - (and I have read the books). Under present circumstances, I'd take Taylor any day over Samantha, who just IMO did not portray the Dagny Ayn Rand brought to life. Find another, but please, not Samantha.

Please bring back Taylor Schilling! She Has been my favorite actress since I first saw her in the show, "Mercy." Part I was amazing, she made the movie great and portrays Dagny Taggart better than any other actress I could think of. She was a thousand times better than Samantha in part II. Casting Taylor Schilling as Dagny once again would be the smartest move you could make.

Taylor Schilling. Physically she has the fragile sculpted beauty and was able to portray the iron - no, Rearden Metal - core. If TS is unwilling to take the role, please find someone with a more polished and icier demeanor than Samantha Mathis, an actress who would be perfect in the role of Bridget Jones. Dagny has to be played as Taylor did with intellect as the controlling factor. As you recall, her own brother accused her of a lack of emotion. We all know the emotion is there, but the veneer has to remain placid as reason rules. No dark circles beneath her eyes as with SM - that suggests a lack of control over her own body. Dagny is too capable to look haggard.

Although Taylor wasn't a perfect choice, I thought she captured the Dagny character a lot more than Samantha. I never felt Samantha was someone that Hank and John Galt would fall for. Also, I didn't think any of the other characters from the second movie were an upgrade. I preferred the actors portraying Hank and Francisco from the first movie. In addition, I thought Eddie in the second movie was more of a bodyguard than a childhood friend.

Pay Taylor Schilling whatever she wants ! That goes for the rest of the cast of Part 1. Under no circumstances use Part 2 people. I brought lots of friends to see Part 1, but I told everyone to stay home for Part 2. I will do the same for Part 3 if you use the cast from 2 !
