Beautiful, tenacious, and fearless, Dagny Taggart has inspired women and men alike for over 50 years.

As Atlas Shrugged Part 3 heads to production, some major decisions still lay ahead. For the past several months, we've read all over the web everything from "Taylor was PERFECT!" to "Samantha IS Dagny!" to "You should have case [INSERT NAME HERE]!"

Now it's time for you to tell us directly. Who is Dagny Taggart?

Taylor from Part 1? Samantha from Part 2? If you had to pick someone else, who would it be? Beyond her ability to embody the character of Dagny Taggart, what else should be considered when casting Dagny? Should she already be an advocate of Ayn Rand's ideas? Should she have at least read Atlas?

    Who is Dagny Taggart? (Taylor)
Should she already be an advocate of Ayn Rand's ideas?
She should be Any Rand, writing the book "Atlas' about her "dream" experiences.
Final thought of the movie, "This doesn't have to happen if you act NOW"

Jessica Chastain. Heck, I'll even chip in towards her salary. (She'll have to negotiate the residuals, though). If you do this ONE THING, the film will be truly legendary and a huge, smash hit. Let me know if you need me to make some calls.

This is a "NO BRAINER" . . . "TAYLOR". along with the rest of the FIRST cast, especially the first "HANK".Rearden. Its about damn time that this is finally being addressed. .

Initially I was disappointed with AS2 cast, but I've changed my opinion. They were both excellent. I just want the same characters from either film to be in AS3. My preference is still the cast from AS1, but I can get behind the second cast just as much as the first. Then again, if you need to change, please just give us a heads up. I was very shocked when I saw AS2 and did not see the Dagny and Hank that I came to know. Another thing, please don't limit the cast to people who are fans of Rand. Get the best talent.

There many new gulch names on this post. I wonder why this is the only post they've commented on. Why not try commenting on other posts as well, or open your own post to start a discussion....about something other than Dagny casting. It could be fun.

Taylor, no contest. She brought far more life to the role of Dagny. The only actor I thought was
    better in Part 2 was the one who played d'Anconia;
he was far more animated than the 1st Francisco.
For me, his monologue on money was brilliant!

Taylor Schilling IS the only Dagny for me. She just projects the power of will along with her feminity that is the real charcter of Dagny. Samantha did a passable effort as Dagny but even in her interviews stated that she doesn't agree with the principled outlined in Atlas Shrugged. Please cast Taylor again. I will watch AND buy Atlas Shrugged 3 as I have 1 and 2.

Yes she should have at least read Atlas Shrugged... IF I had to pick someone else: Ashley Judd, Sandra Bullock probably would be opposed politically and a tad expensive, but maybe Mireille Enos might work ... I do not think being an advocate would or should qualify one, but it might help "getting into character"...

Angie Harmon, she is around 42, so age might work. would be a departure from blonde, (although, I am blonde!). Seems like her persona could pull it off and also she may be open to the view point and philosophy since she is one of the few conservative actresses in Hollywood. Just a thought.

Hands down Taylor Schilling and the original cast of Part I should rightly perform in the continuation of the "Atlas" saga. It's just a no brainer.

Why is this thread about actresses.......When I read the heading on this article I was trying to picture someone who personifies Dagny Taggart. I try but I know I come up short in many ways. Someone who has pushed and pulled themselves and their company to lead in their market. I was not coming up with any names so I did a little research and found an article on the 7 women CEOs you should know by JADA A. GRAVES in U.S. News & World Report.....I read through and selected the women who have come to lead technology base global business to business companies.....Marissa Mayer, Meg Whitman, Virginia "Ginni" Rometty, Heather Bresch. Now I will admit to not knowing each of these woman's back story so someone may argue that any one of them is clearly not Dagny but maybe they are. I am sure there are more out there.

Angelina Jolie was interested in the role of Dagny, and that would certainly draw more public notice and hence a larger audience. Perhaps she would do it at a discount?
