As you know, Teller had a cameo in one of the AS movies. This is quite an insightful look into how magicians work. Pay close attention to #7 (mminnick) and sorry Freedom for the frustrating site.

    Deception and illusion, the very basis of magic and politics. Magicians are paid to lie, politicians, however, are paid to be truthful, but they lie almost as well as magicians. I think we should send magicians to Washington, at least we'll know what we're getting for our money.

    Excellent.

    As Esceptico points out, it works in many walks of life. It can be used to manipulate or to maintain people's attention. This is where logic and discipline fail and the moochers succeed overwhelmingly.

    Works in politics --- and discussions --- the same way. One of the most difficult problems in a discussion is to keep it on the focus of the subject.
