Saw AS Part II last night: Thank you.

It was everything I wanted it to be! I think I was grinning from ear to ear through the whole thing. When you love the book so much it's hard to imagine that one movie will cover the events and preserve the message, but after watching it all I can say is "great job!" and "thank you!"
So much of Part II made it to the screen I couldn't believe it. As short as everything had to be, the best and most important lines were preserved and delivered beautifully. I loved the new James, he was just as I imagined him in my head. Francisco was impeccable. It was a delight to see the surprise casting of Quentin Daniels, who was of course played flawlessly.
One more thing I thought made the movie special - you really captured the poignancy of Dagny (and the reader/viewer) considering the consequences of the policies, and I think sometimes that is the most difficult of tasks - to convey the true humanity of objectivism. You did a great job showing the cold businesswoman who has "never felt a thing" being the only one to truly feel what was going on around her. The only times I wasn't smiling were because the movie was a little too real and I couldn't help but get teary and think "how do we stop this from happening to our America?" because that message was so strong throughout the film.
Fantastic, amazing job. I am sorry that the English language doesn't value the superlative enough to have better words to describe. The few criticisms I have aren't even worth mentioning, given the scope of what you accomplished. I can't begin to wrap my mind around how you managed it. You should be immensely proud. I hope you are celebrating.

- 4Posted by XenokRoy 12 years, 2 months agoI could not agree with you more. The movie was great. I also found myself, as I do when I read the book. "How do we stop this from happening to our America, and if we cant where can we go to rebuild?"Mark as read | Best of... | Permalink|
- 2Posted by terrycan 12 years, 2 months agoMajor dittos! I felt more detail in spots would be better. However let's not lose track of the goal. I believe the goal is to get more people to read the book. Part II will do that. Perhaps there is unseen footage for a directors cut DVD.Mark as read | Best of... | Permalink|
- 1Posted by StephSCO 12 years, 1 month agoI managed to catch Atlas Shrugged Part 2 with my hubby the other night, and we loved it! Samantha Mathis as Dagny was just wonderful, and the message of the movie was way too powerful to ignore. I'm already chomping at the bit to see the third one!Mark as read | Best of... | Permalink|
