Hi. My name is...Ken. My Journey to Atlantis (Gulch)
Posted by kwillia5 11 years, 4 months ago to The Gulch: Introductions
I began my journey to Atlantis in the semester break in 1965-6 while practicing speed reading BUT I didn't know that for 10 years spent trying to identify the source of my values and spotted Atlas and Fountainhead on my shelf with my novels course books. I read everything I could after that. Now I know I am an Objectivist.
I named my daughter Dagny in 1987 on the hunch that when introduced to someone she would learn their philosophy based on their +/- reaction IF they recognized the name. It has worked many times. I have had several careers including first teaching in Physiology labs to Medical students, Management based on an MBA in Finance, Then I started over with an RN and spent 15 years (now retired) as inpatient Psych Charge RN on night shift and now caring for family at home. I also fight as part of the "New York State Nurses Association" to reduce violence against Nurses.
I have probably given 250 copies of Atlas to others in the hopes that they would benefit from reading it as I did.I have applied my knowledge and discipline to proving that Diabetes and heart disease are curable (as Sanje Gupta describes) with diet and exercise. I first proved it on myself then brought my sister home from a nursing home and did the same. IT WORKS.
One of the recipients of a copy of ATLAS from me was soon identified as my perfect match ( the Psych staff who trained me) as AYN describes in "The Passion OF Ayn Rand" the movie. We thought we had arrived in our own valley. She's gone now a result of a careless Surgeon's error.
