I note this outrage has gone largely unremarked in The Gulch. One might wonder...are we afraid to comment for fear the IRS will come knocking on our doors?
These actions warrant jail time, serious jail time for all involved, from the lowest IRS supervisors who knew groups were being targeted to Douglas Shulman, who undoubtedly carried these orders from the White House and who will undoubtedly deny that fact and who should spend the rest of his life in prison for targeting and abusing law abiding tax payers at the behest of his political masters.
Which do you suspect is wrong? Prior to mine there was one remark in nine hours, so that seems right. Do you doubt this matter was discussed during Douglas Shulman's 157 visits to the White House? Is that the premise you doubt?
The IRS stuff, however, rings true to me. I can see the motivation for President Obama doing this, and we've seen actual evidence of the IRS acting politically. Some of it can be explained away by people who are against taxes being more inclined possibly to evade them, but to me this smells really bad. I highly suspect high-ranking Administration people were playing politics with the IRS-- very bad.
