From the Chinese viewpoint, the principal external issue is the U.S. leadership and its strategy to transform the Asia-Pacific regional security architecture. The Chinese leaders are unclear about Washington’s intentions: Why would the U.S. aim to expand its military presence in the region and relocate approximately 60 percent of its air and sea assets to the region when the U.S. already has a preponderant regional military presence?

If we have 60 percent of our forces in the area, who is protecting our mainland? Obama has failed to keep up with improving and upgrading our military, especially the naval fleets. All the while, China is going big time into building a naval fleet to control the seas around them for trade. Their navy studies Alfred Thayer Mahan's writins on sea power, which our puppet Prez does not. <br />China already owns us financially. I hardly think they fear our less than modern Navy, or our leadership, who cannot make a decision on anything. Somehow the idea of decisions on war being made by Obama, or rather Valerie Jarrett, Biden and Kerry probably scares us more than it does China. If push came to shove, with all the US corporations invested heavily in China, Obama would get no support for any action from industry. The writer fails to see we are no longer the big dog and certainly not an economic giant anymore. We are a pathetic nanny state.
