Single payer would be about as successful as single currency is in Europe. Good for the insiders, the elite and powerful, and bad for everyone else. But elimination of competition is what elites always want, and it's the antithesis of the free market that automatically gives incentives to advancements and inventions by creative genius.
Everytime I see an article on Obamacare it spurs me to my daily workout and an extra helping of vegetables. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of statist medical cures.
The key elements of PPACA are making insurance plans cover more and making them accept people who previously couldn't get insurance b/c of their risk profile.
Then people are _shocked_ that this means higher premiums? Politicians openly promoted that the program would do more for people. Where did they think the money would come from?
I found this comment from Kathleen Sibelius to be highly ironic in retrospect, as history placed her in context. "Sebelius says she doesn't 'work for' those calling for her resignation" Apparently, then, as it turned out in fact, she now no longer works for the President who hired her.
