Not sure if this link will work without looking at it through a mobile device, but I just found this app that informs you about what permissions your other apps have access to. It's somewhat helpful in the fact that you know exactly what some apps could be capable of, less helpful in the sense that if the government really wanted to, they could get around anything this app could probably detect.
