The Alternative To Obamacare

This was a hot topic yesterday when it was in the "expat life" forum and each time a new post id made it appeared at the top of the list on the home page. Unfortunately, the moderators of the website sent it to the "world politics" forum and new posts do not appear on the home page.

It amazes me how anyone can fail to see that the POTUS is a collectivist (a term I chose to use in this thread instead of a Socialist or Marxist (which would also be disputed by the same individuals).

Yes, I am steveinbsas...and I believe in "fighting the good fight" from Argentina.

I have to laugh at the poster who claims so many people had "junk" insurance policies. Seems to me that they are the ones to decide whether they were junk or not - not some bureaucrat.

One comment was about the 39 million uninsured who had not signed up. I suspect most didn't because they couldn't afford to pay, and were exempted from having to sign up because of their low income.
The law was never intended to help the ones it claims to be helping, and the economics of the law make certain of that.
It should have been named the Oprahma Insurance Company Welfare Bill.

Yes, people who have no rational argument frequently will try to paint you with the "evil, selfish welfare queen Ayn Rand" brush. It's a waste of time arguing with an ostrich.

I strongly suspect that many of the 39 million who did not signe up were individuals who previously chose not to have health insurance because they are young and healthy and don't have the desire to buy it...especially when the first year penalty, er, I mean tax is as low as $95 dollars.

Those who could not "afford to sign" up might have been eligible for subsidies or they could have even been eligible for Medicaid.
