are you saying learning about the Constitution is not part of your middle school social studies? that's how it is categorized in the middle grades in my kids' district. History and civics in high school.
It wasn't always. Until a couple of years ago in Florida, we did geography (N. America, S. America, and Europe) instead of civics. 8th grade did get history.
Focusing on how the Constitution is a unique in the History of the World document would be refreshing. If we don't do that, kids can grow up thinking there's no difference between our country and anywhere else. I think retired vets will go into schools when requested, hand out copies of the Constitution and give an hour long lesson. You should look into that for your classes.
Welcome, enjoy your stay And there is seriously only ONE chapter on the Founding Fathers?? That's astounding to me. But then again, my daughter hasn't learned much about it at her school, either. We teach both of our kids these things at home, though.
