Republican Senator dumps on Trump
So, now the people inside the Beltway are telling us how to vote. I believe the electorate are fed up with the elites inside the beltway and that Trumps primary wins are the result of that dissatisfaction. I am not a Trump political fan and not saying I will vote for him but I am regarding the audacity of other politicians telling us what to do with our votes. To me that is why the standard US Citizen is upset with the political elites.
Sessions is naive or can't think rationally regarding Trump.
Sasse appears to understand the danger of electing Trump.
trump "tells it" the way he thinks you want to hear it, just like almost all the political class.
Trump is the best thing to happen to the divine right of kings in ages.
Emotions getting the best of us?
Heal thyself.
Hillary is the one who tells it like her handlers tell her to. In addition, she is beholden to Goldman and wall street, seeing as though they gave her so much money.
How bad can Trump really be for 4 years? He would blast open a lot of cronyism and bring it to the light of day. He cant actually pass any laws that the congress doesnt bring to him. He would hire better advisors and amployees than any of the others would also.
Pres couldn't pass anything the con-gress didn't bring ? Ever heard of Obamacare?
Abandon the GOP. It's your only hope short of non-peaceful action.
It's delusional to believe that Trump will be pro- liberty when his entire life he has been statist.
A mixed congress will do nothing at all, and the president would have to do whatever he wanted with executive orders. Obamacare would stay in its current form.
A completely democratic congress will promote a LOT of statist things, and Trump would be likely to veto all of them. So, nothing would happen.
Trump wont do things to pay back his contributors, however, since he has none. Cruz or Rubio will have debts to pay to their contributors.
Again, stop comparing Trump to other statist looters as if that will excuse him from valid criticism.
The reality is, it doesn't matter which leftist branch of the statist party sits in the oval office. If either wins we are screwed. Yet you and other persist in wearing rose colored glasses and ignore the consistent betrayal of the GOP for 50 years.
The only peaceful chance for free markets and liberty is for rational conservatives to leave the GOP and vote on the principles they claim to have, but are rarely if ever brave enough to defend. Even when the only action needed is to vote for principle, the so called conservatives fail.
I agree with you that the GOP has abandoned the free market principles.
Trump will not let millions of undocumented workers to stay here and collect welfare. He will also stand up to other countries so they at least respect us. I really doubt that he will encourage inflation and the destruction of the dollar. Why wouldnt you want those things
To actually get it during our lifetime, forget it until we get an economic crash to wake up the populace, OR some cataclysm occurs which will permit a completely new constitution with its flaws removed.
I am more interested in things that affect my life, which is why I want the least intrusive government I can get- and thats Trump this time
There are a a lot of Trump haters out there who are into the establishment. The rank and file love him BECAUSE he is not in the establishment. Look where the so called establishment got us though....
Hmm...I wonder how many pieces of heavy equipment will be needed to build that wall?
Trump will quietly hand out 'favors', at his discretion. He's been a crony statist for a long time. He knows when he leaves office his brand and companies will have grown immensely because of the Presidency.
Welcome to the "zombie movie". :-)
What's next for some Trump's supporters? Hats, buttons, jackets...boots? Will they initiate force against those that are critical of Trump?
The group think is strong with this one....
FFA is right.
Cruz religious zealotry is no worse than Trump waving his Bible over his heard. Trump is at least as likely to impose religious demands in government as he buys support for some "deal".
The emotional fervor for the strong arm Trump, promising His "greatness" and dismissing the threats, is just as frightening as Trump.
Meaning they would rather see Frau Felony over someone who does NOT have a record of lying (or evading) under oath to Congress, Voting for a self-entitled smarmy imperialist who decides the rules everyone else follows don't apply to her, and who is using as her main qualifications being wife of a former president (who was one of 2 impeached, I might add) and being Secretary of State during a horrible misjudgment of situational awareness... Not to mention SHE was the ORIGINAL AUTHOR of the insurance scam and tax-graft plan currently known as Obamacare...
YOU would vote for her? SERIOUSLY??
Has this group fallen THAT low?? I've been here since nearly the beginning, but at that I am now thinking of shrugging this. Because if that's the current opinion - that Hillary is somehow qualified to even RUN, let alone deserving of votes - over ANYONE - then this place is no longer the gulch, but the State Science Institute...
Picking Trump over Hillary is like picking one terminal disease over another. His record of cronyism, inconsistency, lying, creepiness, and teenage behavior makes him no better than Hillary.
(to match Obama's gold plated golf cart.)
He had pull, millions from his relatives, and looted using government favors.
Again, you keep comparing Trump to other looters in a failed attempt to defend him. Compare him to the one you should be voting for instead, Gary Johnson.
Trump a stickler for details? Based on what evidence?
Commands respect? No, he demands unearned respect and insults anyone who doesn't agree with him regardless of how stupid his arguments are.
Purist? I want someone who defends the constitution as the oath the POTUS takes requires. I want someone who takes his own promises seriously, and will fulfill them. I want someone with ethics that opposes statism in actions, not just words. Trump fails on all these simple ethical requirements.
The reason we get evil looters is people don't vote on principle; they vote based on fear instilled by the GOP. I argue that we should vote on principle or we are at fault. You on the other hand won't vote on principle because other people won't. Do you have any principles?
Given that we dont have unlimited lives, it would seem prudent to try and make the best of what we actually CAN get. Voting on principle in today's culture is useless because the only way we would be able to get a principled person to win would be to convince multi multi multi millions of people to understand those principles and agree with them. You are trying to stand in the way of the tide coming in instead of waiting for the right moment to make your stand. Education at this point is the only thing to do that will accomplish anything, and there is a good argument that only an apocalypse will convince the required mass of humanity that statism isnt the way to go. Doesnt this make any sense to you??
Voting based on principle is the thing that makes it possible for the people with ethics and principle to compete in elections. You admit that without support they can't win, and you refuse to support them because they can't win, Not rational. You will support someone without principles because he runs his mouth on problems but he has no detailed solutions, he claims politicians are not trustworthy, tells you that he should be trusted when he has a proven record of looting from the people. You are not thinking rationally.
Yes, it's possible for candidate C to win but the most likely scenario is that in the run up to the election people tell pollsters that C is their choice and C is no longer polling at 3%. When C goes into the actual election with a realistic shot -- vote as often as your conscience allows.
I certainly think Al Gore and John Kerry would have been worse.
Isnt it also true though that an election like this to head up a currently statist country with so few principles would make it impossible for a principled person to actually operate within his principles. Remember Thompson asked John Galt to take over, and Galt refused to be "king".
This would be an argument to just withdraw from the whole thing, and just not vote at all if one was true to one's principles. Our constitution and laws are not principled at all at this point.
Our criticisms of Trump are equivalent to Hillary's in the minds of some Trump supporters. At least, drowning is not possible in the depth of that perception.
Otherwise we would have a Rand Paul VS Bernie Sanders Primary - both qualified from their own sides, both very dedicated to their specific agenda, but far far too bland and businesslike to be a media sensation, so they get the axe...
HOW do you think we ended up with the criminal bimbo VS the loud, non-PC hairpiece? The networks are drooling all over themselves... because THEY win.
So who is the Con Man? The guy that builds high rises, employing thousands of people and selling high quality condos to people that can afford them? Or the first-term Senator that has been on the campaign trail for at least a year, not representing his constituents, and fleecing the taxpayers for his salary the whole time?
Our founders devised a system based on separation of powers which has been eroded to a scary degree. States rights are almost non-existent. Congress is vilified and bypassed. The Supreme Court stands alone but is in danger of being turned to the left. One conservative justice is to be replaced now and in the next few years there will be three liberal justices to be replaced so a huge swing can occur based on the principles of the next President. I have no idea what Trump would do but I have a good idea on Clinton and total assuredness on Sanders' leanings.
My first Presidential vote (had to be 21) was for Barry Goldwater and he was the last candidate I was really "for". I was surprised by Reagan, disappointed by George H W Bush and have hardly been able to live with the rest. Now, I don't know if I even want to vote, even to vote against the other. If a serious challenge could be mounted by a third party candidate and cause the election to be decided in the house of Representatives could be our best bet.
Tyrants dont often build big and successful businesses, though. Trump has had to rely on cooperation and picking good people to work with. Thats what we need as an administrator to run the government.
The very Last thing you wanta do...is tell me! what to do.
I have a mind...they do not...it would seem.
The reason a power collector like Trump would be worse has to do with the political pandering of Congress trying to hitch a ride on his bandwagon. That, and the fear of crossing someone who has demonstrated there isn't much he wouldn't publicly do to them.
Add in the trait of a 'thin skin' and it's a recipe for a dictator. What does it say about a man that has to constantly proclaim what groups "love" him?
left is government over citizens
center is constitution not center of the left
right filling the empt space is citizens over government
nazis are intentionally put out of place and belong next to communists
entiende?
I wonder if lots and lots of Republicans plus some Democrats could equal a majority. I think so.
Trump is an illustration of the New Fascism Rule by Consensus lecture posted here last week.
https://ari.aynrand.org/issues/govern...
People see Trump and say "Goodness he sounds fascist. He scares the bejesus out me. We need a good moderate who will look out for to all groups' views." I say illustration because if limited gov't and respect for individual rights had strong structures enforcing them, Trump wouldn't be so scary. We wouldn't feel the desperate need for someone who represents everyone's interests. It would be understood that people represent their own interests, and the president just runs the executive branch.
My thought is Trump cannot win. The question is what alternative to people run to. The obvious choice is Hillary Clinton, who I believe is a good person and "good moderate who will look out for all groups' views." But imagine if there were another viable choice, if a bunch of mainstream politicians supported Gary Johnson. It's still an extreme longshot, but a libertarian movement is a possibility.
What I really REALLY don't get is how the hell Hellary can take state after state - some at over 75% of the vote. I was watching the brouhaha last night, and screaming at the TV "Are these f***ing democrats blind and dumb and stupid? WTF is wrong with you for voting a known criminal, someone who is known to lie back to back, who puts on fake accents to sound like she's from somewhere, and cal legalese her way out of the crimes she has committed??!! Is your memory THAT bad you can't remember she crap she pulled when her husband was in the WH? ARRGHHHH!!!!!"
Ya know... Ayn was right. The moochers, looters, liberals, etc. hate themselves so bad they want to drag the rest of the world down in flames with them...
What do the Hillary supporters think Goldman is giving her $200k per speech for? They must expect favors at our expense.
You got that one right! :-)
