Northern Colorado secession efforts underway

Eight rural, mostly conservative counties in the upper reaches of Colorado are making noise about carving out their own place within the Republic of Obama
It is a great barometer, however, for the true State of the Union!
If only Washington wasn't so tone deaf....
The military resolution of the secession question was then given legal force by the U.S. Supreme Court in the 1868 case of Texas v. White. The Court ruled there that even Texas--an independent republic before it joined the Union in 1845--had no right to secede. "The Constitution," the Court said, "in all its provisions, looks to an indestructible Union, composed of indestructible States."

Which is fine, since the definition of a rebellion throws all established law into the air, and of little consequence.
I actually support state separation from Washington where the majority of that state's voters make the decision. But let's use the correct terms for doing this...and it is not legal secession.
I suspect that the majority of the petition signers never expected to be totally separated from the Federal government, and were just venting their frustration...and hoping for some reform.
That was my purpose in 'signing' Florida's.
Florida has had a conservative government for the last few elections, and things are definitely on the upswing. Jeb Bush had a lot to do with running the Democrats onto 'the mattresses'.
These petitions are a great way to voice your feelings on where the Fed side of all of this is going,
Your ex-state is a shadow of what it once was, and something tells me that just several large urban areas have made this happen. My 'gut' feeling is that the salt of the earth living in CO are totally bewildered....
Springs, where we lived is hugely military, christian, liberty wanting territory. while I am not into orgs like Focus on the Family, they do good works on keeping people informed and involved. Americans for Prosperity has their largest involvement from Colorado Springs. They also have a crackshot economics group lead by Reagan's former economics advisor. Also Michelle Malkin made her home there for some of these reasons. It's not enough. gw, just earlier, said he wasn't spending his summers in the state for how they've changed. Jeb Bush. I say no. two Bush's who were middle of the road and passed huge disasters. and sr told jr to pass sarbanes Oxley. Made them millions, killed high tech startups. fail. no third Bush.
While he ran Florida for two terms, he cut government to the bone, and probably should have been 'offed' by the teacher's and state worker's unions. They hated him...which was all I needed to like him! He is not like his brother.
When were they not just that?
Then you remark: "We the people and the States are.
WE created the union, WE can take it apart."
Hence my assuming that you understood my rebellion reference, since that is what you suggest is the only option.
Put the shovel down...you are digging your own hole deeper.
I left this part of the thread with you having the last word. I am still making the offer....
