Now how does a Baptist Church ex-communicate? All their preachers need is to 'get the call,' find a place to meet and others to meet with them, and start preaching. I knew one who 'got his call' on the toilet, only preached at self held revivals, couldn't afford a tent so used a brush roof in a field on the edge of town, and saved our one town street drunk every summer before moving on to the next small town.

The Westboro church only has 15 to 20 members, the majority of which are Phelp's children (13 or so) and their children. Other than that, who cares?

Well, his daughter has actually been running the church for several years. Also, Fred Phelps was actually excommunicated from the church in mid-2013.

So yeah, I think the church will get along without him just fine.
