ASP3: This is John Galt
Ideally, the actor playing John Galt in Atlas Shrugged Part 3 will appear to have jumped right off of the pages of Atlas Shrugged. However, in our quest to find the perfect John Galt, some tough choices may have to be made. That's where you come in.
If you had to choose, which would you consider the number one priority in casting John Galt?
A. As long as the actor looks and acts like John Galt, I don't care what his personal beliefs are.
B. The actor needs to possess a deep understanding of, and passion for, Ayn Rand's ideas first and foremost.

Although I'd much rather prefer an actor who we've known to have followed the Rand philosophy in life. Aamir Khan has been known to have been a perfectionist. He doesn't care if the movie will take two years, he just has to make it right. He doesn't care about the critics, changes appearances like Depp. hink he is pretty perfect for the role.
However, Hrithik Roshan has been called a greek god too many times. Cannot be ignored.
I liked Paul Johansson from AS Part 1.
Maybe this will put to 'rest' the Brad Pitt lobbyists!
A good actor - no matter his politics - can do a great job. Tom Hanks won Best Actor two years in a row - one playing a gay man dying of AIDS (Philadelphia) and the next year playing a man with mental challenges (Forrest Gump). That is true excellence in the craft.
Every actor is required to do a lot of homework before tackling a part. So they should read the book. There are young, hungry actors much more in keeping with the John Galt persona who would do an outstanding job. Politics do not a good actor make. Not necessarily, that is.
So what's wrong with Sweeney continuing as John Galt? Is there even a reason for this poll?
I don't know his politics...
That being said, my vote is Jim Caviezel. He has displayed an ability to play multiple styles of personalities in difficult roles. His eyes always seem to portray a deep intelligence (lucky him), his personality one of cool-headedness that can take the leadership role in any situation. These are just a few observations. He has sufficient name recognition to draw interest from otherwise disinterested parties. And not in the least - my wife swoons over him in almost anything that he appears on. (I even secretly swoon over his presence in "Person of Interest" - but I will deny writing this post if anyone tells my wife - ;) ) Despite that his physical prowess isn't necessarily like some other actors, he well makes up for that with his stature, good looks, and incredibly cool voice. Bring back Esai Morales as Francisco d'Anconia - he is a great match for Caviezel (it just seems that they both would have been close friends and classmates). Ragnar needs to have a hidden energy seeking to explode but under great control; Benedict Cumberbatch would be great here - he displayed such in the recent Star Trek movie as Kahn.
Jim Caviezel - he's John Galt. Now let's see if he's game for it.
How about this: admit that he would be a good choice (and he would), and I will reinstate you this time?
lol I'm not ALWAYS sarcastic...I just strive to be!
Boy: "she"?
Is there a batting average below .00?
I don't hang out in the Gulch exclusively private bar and grill!
I know...don't even remind me that I am NOT a producer.
I am just waiting for my AARP discount offer....

If it wasn't for me...than my batting average has reached -.050.
No one will tell me the payola required to get past the private Gulch club bouncer?
O.K. I'll just tell Toby (my dog) that he needs to go on a diet (he won't figure it out).
What does the 3.99 cover? Pole dancing, or lap dancing, in the Lounge? It needs to...since it seems that I am only really talking to a bunch of chicks in here.
I'll surprise you and stroll past the bouncer soon.
Hey wait... what does, "I am only really talking to a bunch of chicks in here" supposed to mean?? Oh I can't wait til kh reads this.... gird your loins.
I admit that I got a ton of satisfaction typing that out.
I anticipated you though, and pulled the tabs on my Depends uncomfortably tight.
Bring it on....
Okay...not dk, but I think you already figured that one out...if not...revisit the football party cancellation conversation.
And...you will be getting no discounts related to AARP in the Gulch. AARP is in B.O.'s pocket.
I actually lobby against AARP with my friends, because they were a major party to ObamaCare. I am not a member...but used them to get my fixed income point across.
I actually clicked on the UPGRADE button the other night, but got distracted before I could get to the 'fine print'. I don't remember what the bill for being a "producer" was when I first signed on, maybe you can tell me?
kh...give me back my point!
With regard to his appearance - I felt that Galt was described with such affection that he must have been (or been near to) Rand's ideal man, which is an incredibly huge concept in Objectivism. For that reason I think he should fit the book's description as closely as humanly possible. I think Brad Pitt could do it flawlessly.
