I would love to see a map similar to tagfoot's map showing where user's are posting from. Only this time you can use the Taggart map using railroad routes overlaying it.

What about a map that members can add their location if they want it there but if they don't want their location posted it won't be there.
Me, my husband & kids travel around & if there was a map of some sorts we could say "hey look like minded people, lets message them & see if they wanna hang out"

What about having it display what railroad region you're in? Region covering 1 - 2 states.
