We'll have to see how this plays out before we start throwing the confetti. Congresspeople are a sneaky bunch many of whom exist only for the purpose of getting re-elected. Every move they make is determined by whether or not it will get them back at the trough.
Right you are, This whole business is to make the voters actually think that something about Obama care is going to be done. One more lesson in, you can fool most of the people most of the time.
Except that Obama will veto it. It would only have teeth if there were an Impeachment resolution behind it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm pleased that the principled side of the Senate was able to pressure McConnell into not just going along with things. I'm also pleased that the Republicans finally took a play out of the Democrats book and used Reconciliation. The problem is that it's not going to matter with a Presidential Veto still looming.
Unfortunately, even the supreme court seems to be in favor of Obama and Obama's directives. I am about ready to vote for Sanders and get this whole socialist thing OVER WITH. It would cause a collapse of the country, but thats going to come anyway with the direction we are going. Perhaps with a collapse can come a rebirth
Or perhaps a far bigger boot that shall remain on our necks like in North Korea. Be careful what you wish for in a country that voted for Obummer twice.
the scenarios involving secession of the solvent States with the others eventually "seeing the light" and joining them in a NewU.S. (New S A) make me optimistic. -- j .
one could only hope. MY family has had health insurance for nearly 20 years, but due to ACA we will be without any health insurance next year. It just didn't make sense to spend $1422/mo for something I seldom get to take advantage of. My out of pocket for the year would have been $25K before the policy would ever kick in. It just does not make logical sense. I hope they can get something worked out before long.
I knew it was fishy as soon as he said that he would ADD 40 million people into the system, and LOWER costs. Having been awake in Economics 101, I remembered the supply and demand curves. I do remember that if you increase demand, and don't increase supply (of health care), then prices will go UP, and not by a little bit. I also knew that that would lead, inevitably, to death panels (Sarah Palin was right).
I'm a retired veteran. I solved the Obamacare, and reneging on veterans benefits especially medical and Medicare raiding by simply moving south...across the border. I view the stuff up north as last ditch final effort super catastropolicting no other choice by gocious.
As a military retiree I don't qualify for VA...thanks for small favors...being sent there has always been one of my worst fears.
I am a retired LC, reserve, and at 60 got retiree pay, but not tricare. . now, tricare has started sending me statements. . I am just now 67 and it's puzzling.
I hope so. What I notice is that, like the Global Warming push, now one increasingly sees people questioning it. There is more pushback on the ACA now. When it fails (and it will fail) we will have had more people immunized against socialist healthcare, and that will give us a better chance to defeat a single-payor system.
If there are enough people to strongly elect a Repubilcan President, then I would consider it evidence in favor of a change in the sea wind.
the D.C. insiders keep saying that Trump will not be the R candidate. . I suppose that their statements that Trump would not beat Hillary are also wishful thinking. . and I do not mean to endorse him;;; I'm just observing. -- j .
Trump seems odious to me in character, but I would certainly vote for him to keep Hillary from winning. The polls are puzzling: for example, they went through strange gyrations to conclude that Bush was ahead for a long time - even when there own polls indicated differently.
Probably, what is going to make a difference is 'turnout ratio'. If more liberals get off their duffs to vote....
I would hate to characterize the honest name of 'dog' by casting them in such a low level of esteem and respect. Perhaps one of your Pelosi's might do just as well?
No. We have become a nation of dependency with what people depend upon as somehow being a "right". Until reality, reason and self-interest are restored to politics we will be forced to watch a government takeover of our lives.
obamacare is trouble. it has caused trouble since its inception and the troubles that it has caused are actually getting worse. but you know that!!!!!!!
In trouble? I sure hope it is. But even if the court makes the right judgment, that's not nearly as good as repeal. And for it not to be vetoed, we'd have to wait until January 2017.
The real reason it's in trouble is that it's in its death spiral. This is equivalent to everything running down fast after John Galt removed enough of the "men of the mind" from the world's economy.
I would love to be wrong.
