Know how the system works and you are ahead of the game. To not know, and you're left holding the bag.

When you're trying to get the gov't to pay for any of your expenses, it helps to know the system well. I certainly sign up for whatever benefits I'm legally allowed to have. It's too bad we give so much money to the gov't in taxes that we feel like we're left holding the bag if we can't get our expenses paid for by taxpayer dollars. I pay every tax I'm legally required to, so I sign up for every benefit I'm legally allowed.

There's an old quote, I can't remember who said it, that it is unamerican or unpatriotic to pay more taxes than you're legally obligated to. I, for one, agree on your comments..
