Ben said it best.....
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. -Benjamin Franklin

The next biggest problem is the 16th Amendment to the US Constitution. To sum up how it was before, it worked like this: The House of Representatives was an agent for the people. The Senate was an agent for the individual states. So basically, the House is a 4 year old child writing the grocery shopping list. The Senate is the adult that chooses to not buy piles and piles of bon bons, ice cream, cookies, cake and other candy.
Then came the 16th Amendment, and now not only is the House a 4 year old writing the shopping list, but now the Senate is ALSO a 4 year old doing the actual shopping.
I concur. The Constitution guarantees us all a Republican form of government. It never mentions the word Democracy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fL6HX07un...
It is a form of propaganda.
Respectfully,
O.A.
I'd be astonished if even 25% of Americans knew the difference between a democracy and republic.
A better fix would be to automatically award the electoral vote to the winner in each district of a state, rather than the current mix of "winner take all" or proportional allocation. That would challenge the Presidential candidates to address a broader variety of the voting public.
I like tying each individual electoral vote to each individual district.
Thanks for reminding me.
