What is going on with commodity markets?

The important question is why such a large drop now and across so many commodities, even food. I don't think decreased China demand has had a great enough reduction to account for all of it. The developing world is certainly in need of most of these commodities. So it would take additional factors such as a lack of funds to meet these needs and a lack of loan to explain this across the board action. Or so it seems to me. I get the unfortunate analogy playing in my head that I am on the shore watching the tide go out - much much to far out to portend anything good is coming next.

My opinion is that it shows the disconnect from what we are being told and what is actually happening. The global economy is slowing and most likely headed towards a recession if not already there. The powers that be refuse to admit that their Keynesian response to the '08 crash not only hasn't helped but made things much worse.

When you develop commodities on credit to be bought on credit based on some idea that will result in drastically increasing growth-sooner or later you have to hit stop.

Car loans in the US are over 1 trillion right now with average loan life of 6 to 7 years. One report last week reported that a significant percentage of China's big build up in housing is sitting empty.
