What makes John Galt and America Great

The concept of John Galt is a lot like my concept of America. To me, America is not so much a place or its people, as it is a concept, the concept that freedom and liberty make ordinary people and their homes exceptional. It’s what has made America the greatest place in human history. Economic and social freedoms allow people to reach their full potential. Another way of putting it is that people have intrinsic power and value, and with basic freedoms, they can achieve greatness. John Galt is such a person in that he has the intelligence and intellect to be the greatest inventor and producer of all times. But John Galt also recognizes that such success and greatness can and will be used to demonize such a person.
If you think millionaires and billionaires are demonized, how would the first trillionaire be treated?
John Galt is in essence the World’s first Trillionaire!

I agree with the admiration of Reagan, however, even he sold out. The tiny little cars he insisted the US needed, which led people to buy even bigger SUVs. He caved to the CFR when he did not follow his own beliefs to abolish the Dept. of Education.
Galt is the model for what the US was meant to be, but slip farther away from all the time. The US could be and was headed toward being a country where everyone could follow their dream. The original immigrants wanted only a chance to use their new freedom to WORK and use their skills to make the best life they could make for their families. A far cry from take whatever they could sponge.
Millionaires or trillionaires has nothing to do with it, we have a lot of mooching scum in Hollywood who are millionaires, but not fit to be on the same planet with John Galt.

At its heart the United States is a concept. It is more than its people, its culture. It is greater than the sum of its parts.
It is a bastion of hope to the world. It is the land of the free and sought after my millions from all around the world. Even with all of its troubles and problems, it is a beacon to the world. Why? Because anyone here can become anything they want.
John Galt is a concept. He represents what is best about humanity. He represents the ideal intellectual. He has the strength of will and mind to determine his own destiny, his own path through the world and through life. He is the full embodiment of the prototypical Creator found in Howard Roark (The Fountainhead)
The United States and John Galt bring the best of people to the fore. They show that it is possible to succeed on your own terms in your own way.

Well put. That's exactly the idea I was attempting to express. The closest national leader that approached this Rand ideal in recent times was Ronald Reagan. I loved and was inspired by what he said and stood for. I was extremely disappointed when he only got half of what Tip O'Neal promised. We got tax cuts, but the spending cuts never occurred and government continued to grow.
