Peter Schiff's father passes away in prison
"But my father was most known for his staunch opposition to the Federal Income Tax, for which the Federal Government labeled him a “tax protester.” But he had no objection to lawful, reasonable taxation. He was not an anarchist and believed that the state had an important, but limited role to play in market based economy. He opposed the Federal Government’s illegal and unconstitutional enforcement and collection of the income tax. His first book on this topic (he authored six books in total) How Anyone Can Stop Paying Income Taxes, published in 1982 became a New York Times best seller. His last, The Federal Mafia; How the Government Illegally Imposes and Unlawfully collects Income Taxes, the first of three additions published in 1992, became the only non-fiction, and second and last book to be banned in America. The only other book being Fanny Hill; Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure, banned for obscenity in 1821 and 1963."

Have fun! Enjoy the read. Sorry to hear this and other stories of such abuse.
Never mind the obvious sell for a penny and make the money out of inflated shipping and handling prices that's a late night tv shopping channel trick. But Wait there's more absolutely no extra charge call now and one extra and something else.
BS it's all part of the price to begin with but it takes a 99.99 mind to think they've saved a penny. When they could have really saved themselves 100.00 dollars buy not buying at all.
Plastic money, plastic items, plastic minds.
of what he wrote? Was he not allowed, under the
Constitution, to write whatever he d---n well pleased? Or did he refuse to pay some tax or other? It is a pitiful, outrageous story. What we
need to do, (but what won't happen soon) is to
repeal Amendment #16.
Or The VA exists how you get signed up is your problem no matter how many roadblocks therefore...where's our paycheck
This would be a nice place to work if it weren't for all the veterans.Where's our payraise
The Amendment Procedure complaint holds no water. The voluntary compliance statement is crap. What it boils down all the IRS could be taken into custody under the Patriot Act provisions for 'suspicion of' terrorism' No suspicion involved but it requires no proof,
The real bottom line is the majority of the voting pubic doesn't care. 1913 was 102 years ago and no serious challenge to repeal has been put forward.
Why? A bit over half of the citizens don't pay taxes and a good amount of them are on the dole.
"It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong." Judge Napolitano
The title of one of his books and a great read...

Without reading the entire history of Irwin Schiff and the case which put him in prison for the rest of his life, my take is that he resorted to filing his 1040's, perhaps including fraudulent information, by which that signature waived his rights. Over a long period Shiff expressed his view with numerous stances regarding the "legality" of the income tax, which were apparently judged as frivolous and irrelevant. Well, maybe, maybe not, but he spent the remainder of his life in prison. The right fight, but fighting the wrong battles.
Many called Schiff a Patriot, as if that is somehow relevant, but to me that matters not one whit. What does matter is not SIGNING and sending in that 1040, thereby "confessing my sins" and allowing them to dig into any records I may have had.
I have written much on the 1040 issue, if you wish. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irwin_S... has a pretty good set of stuff on Irwin Schiff.
Whatever, Rest in Peace, Irwin.
I do not regard him as a martyr. I regard him as a bad example from which we should all learn.
Obey, if you think you should. Resist, if you feel you must. But don't lie to the public. It will only help our enemies destroy the liberty movement by providing them with examples of cheats and liars among us.
