Too Pro-Hollywood? Leaked TPP IP chapter.

Whether or not you like the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership treaty) may depend if you work in the Movie or the Tech Business.

As there are both types here in the gulch I thought this might be a good topic.

The article is biased towards the Tech camp, you can read the chapter for yourself over at WikiLeaks...

    Listed under 'Objectives' in the Wikileaks release, is the following:
    "and in a manner conducive to social and economic welfare, and to a balance of rights and obligations".
    I fail to see what 'social and economic welfare' has to do with the purpose of granting a patent or copyright.
    So if the granting of a patent is determined to be damaging to the economic welfare of an existing company or group, does that imply that a new invention wouldn't be patentable?
