Hated that song since the first time I heard it. Ditto for West Side Story in entirety. (re:Glee. Excellent talented people. Have performed one of their arrangements locally.)
why do you hate the song? I think the musical was a statement of urban life at the time. but I hadn't been born yet, and it was never my reality. I grew up in small town midwest.
We definitely have different tastes in music. Setting aside all the Really Bad musicals that never see the light of day after a few performances (or death in previews or never getting funded at all) I'd put everything that Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote at the top of my bad musical list (along with West Side Story.) (Webber did write a few good songs that sound similar though.)
