Thank you gonzo309, We should all take a moment to contemplate how far we've come from the noble aspirations of a free and determined people. It should be noted that while the particulars of the day are different. Several of the listed grievances apply once more. Our government and in particular our executive branch has been acting in a most imperious way. Here a a few of the grievances that could easily be said were contemporary in the form of executive orders and runaway bureaucracies exerting arbitrary power over us.
"He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:
For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever."
Now, in many ways they are not literally doing these things in the same fashion, but through devious and deceitful ways accomplishing the same tyrannies.
I do not believe they respect the original intent, are upholding their oaths, and in so doing deserve the same respect as King George. Respectfully, O.A.
Saw it. A great rendition. Very emotional for me. I love this country and what it stands for. When rendered the way it was, it really brings the point home.
My viewing assistant didn't say anything about that. Still doesn't change the words. Perhaps my not seeing them keep my mental image intact. Are they someone I would have recognized if I cleary saw their faces instead of a blurred face?
There were players and coaches and owners military personnel , and just folks . How they were picked , I have no idea . Then the tyrants wife came on. At that point it degenerated into platitudes .
Didn't recognize the voices, would have if I had seen them. Was watching with a person who trans lates some of the pictures for me when my eyes get out of focus or no glasses on (diabetes problems, a real pain).
Not just military . There were players, owners, and team patriarchs . Got to admit got misty eyed, until the tyrant's wife got on. Those words on her lips was blasphemous! !
The Declaration of Independence pre-game was beautiful and moving and at the very end, Dear God, two wives of 2 politicians that have left our Veterans dying from delays in care as well as awful care !!!! Made me utterly sick to my stomach !!!
it was the mazaradi commercial and another one...the rest were just bad. not usual.I can give in to lame but fabulous ads. tonight was covered in bad pollution. socialist pollution
Darn... and I missed it. My entertainment, besides baby sitting, was shining our laser light on the neighbor's back patio tv, where they were having a Super Bowl party with a bunch of my co-workers. In retaliation they started standing on chairs so their heads were visible over our mutual wall so our dogs would go into barking orbit. Good times.
Some of these 'readers' couldn't even pronounce some of the words. (I'd like to do a follow up... "What you just read... what does that statement mean to you?" and watch them giggle and try to squirm their way out of it. Grown MEN! Buzz I can handle. the soldier, good... football players, mostly no. The trains were a nice touch. The sows on the couch should NOT have been in it at all. Gotta get that pug mug wedged into every damn video footage. arg
Agreed, except I wouldn't ask "what does that statement mean to you" in true post-modern fashion, but I would ask what the original authors meant...period.
