- 1Posted by LionelHutz 10 years, 10 months agoApparently this is one of those things that's funny if you know your Bible and flies over your head if you don't. This is mocking the idea that Jesus would be conceived of as a socialist/communist. The premise is: if Jesus was a socialist/communist, he ought to have said something like...<caption>. And anyone who knows their Bible would know he said something close to the opposite. The background story is Jesus's opponents were trying to get him in trouble with at least one group of people, so they asked him whether God's people should pay taxes to a guy like Caesar, who considered himself a god. The opponents figured he was either going to get himself in trouble with the government or the highly religious folks. He instead basically said "Who's picture is on the coin? Caesar's? Well then give him back his stuff. But don't forget you have something that belongs to God too, and don't forget to give him what he's due."Mark as read | Best of... | Permalink|
- 1Posted by mminnick 10 years, 10 months agoThere are way too many people in the world that have no clue what Jesus really said or was supposed to have said. If memory serve, the caption is not what he said.Mark as read | Best of... | Permalink|
