For a brief moment, at the top of the hill...
At 5:34 ET this morning, I reached the summit of the hill known as "50".
Immediately after that, I began the descent.
As I continue along, I can not think of a better group of people with whom to work, trade, converse, argue, and man the philosophical and cultural barricades.
We have something special here.
What a gift to be part of it.
Officially "Over the Hill",
Rick

Congratulations!
It has been said that it is easier to get older than it is to get wiser. Fortunately you have managed both with style!
Many happy returns of the day.
O.A.
At 72, I still look in the mirror in the morning and see that 18 year old kid wondering what the hell is going on. And often I feel just like that kid, amused, scared, and hopeful. And far more centered now.
Galt's Gulch is my refuge of sanity in an increasingly crazy world.
Welcome to the bright side!
Jan
Thanks, Duke.
Nice Rick. Nice. :)
Yes, Bill and I have the same birthday.
My wife is nicer.
Congrats on another year
Jan
Thanks, Jan.
Agreed.
As the song goes -- You've only just begun...
Fifty is the age at which a person such as yourself finally reaches maturity and can truly claim the status of adult. Most others reaching that pinnacle never become adults. They only accumulate years. Congratulations on your milestone.

Proud to boast that I beat you to it by 7 years and 2 weeks!
Congratulations anyway...!
I'm the nut who wore the tie which read "This Is What 40 Looks Like"
and then passed it on to a close friend. . I was told that wearing
that tie on my birthday, at work, was an act of either surrender
or stupidity. . Hey, I thought it was a graduation, Rick!!! -- j
