This direct attack, and make no mistake the first two questions Megyn used were specifically designed to do nothing but torpedo Trump and make the other candidates look better.

Could Trump has answered better, sure. BUT, he spoke the truth and did not back down.

You want to know Trumps specific detailed answers refer to all his interviews. They are easily referenced.

He attacked the messenger, I would have asked the same question. In reality it was not really inappropriate to ask Sara Palin what papers she reads either. It's better to bring out his overt reactions in a debate with a reporter than to do it while engaged with a another world leader. From his late reactions and bullheadedness in attacking Megyn Kelly, I sure wouldn't want him representing me. I feel he would just be another Obama representing us. We sure can weed out someone better, we've got a lot of time left.

Let's look at some history. And the difference between a weak pathetic sorry excuse for a president who by the way give good speeches, and talks with political correctness.

During Jimmy Carter's Presidency, 53 Americans were held hostage by the camel humping towel heads.
January 20, 1981 when Ronald Regan was sworn in, THAT SAME DAY Iran released ALL the hostages. NO war, NO troops, No rescue missions. WHY?

They were terrified of Regan and KNEW EXACTLY what he would do.

When Khadafi claimed responsibility for the bombing, Regan almost immediately bombed all his secret hiding places, his palace and killed one of his kids in the attack.

From that day until Obama got elected Khadafi kept his mouth shut and stayed in his borders and kept to himself.

Sep 23, 2009 - Muammar el-Qaddafi, pokes his head up and starts his crap again. WHY because of a weak president.

I do not care if Megyn Kelly's feeling got hurt, she wants equal rights, then don;t bitch when you get slapped back. BTW, Megyn Kelly is trying to take some kind of moral high ground. Listen to her interview with Howard Stern then tell me what a paragon of Virtue she is.

When did Kelly "bitch"? She just asked the Donald a question. Trump thinks he is being unfairly attacked whenever he gets a hard question or someone even hints he disagrees with him. This is one thin skinned guy.

Iran released the hostages on the day Reagan was inaugurated because they were angry with Carter for giving aid to their brutal dictator, the Shah. The Carter administration had completed all of the pre-work in getting the hostages released, but the Iranians stalled for weeks in completing the transaction. The CIA opposed a second military attempt to release the hostages because they knew the captives would be released after Carter was gone. It wasn't fear of Reagan that motivated the Iranians, it was hatred for Carter.

Actually, if I recall correctly, Ronald Reagan gave Iran an ultimatum, prior to the election. If they were angry with Carter...why did they wait several more weeks until the inauguration, when they could have released them immediately upon learning the results of the election?
Besides, again, if I remember correctly, Iran was a far better place, before Khadafi. Kinda like Cuba, before Castro.

This is a question more appropriately asked of the CIA, which concluded that the transfer would happen, no matter who was President, when Carter could take no credit for it.

Subsequently, the Reagan administration did business with Iran in the Iran/Contra affair.

That sounds good, but Reagan did what he said, and Iran wasnt going to win out fighting with him. Libya got the message after pushing Reagan, and we really never heard from them again after that for a long time. Obama draws lines in the sand and then backs off- Putin laughs at him. Putin wouldnt laugh at Reagan and probably would have never attacked Crimea and Ukraine

Reagan knew better than to put the U.S. into untenable situations, so he did not draw artificial and unenforcible 'red lines,' and instead he left an open door for negotiation. Remember the Beruit Bombing? Reagan pulled out rather than double down. He was willing to talk to the Soviets and as a result he helped reduce tensions between the worlds superpowers.

Reagan used, or threatened to use, the military rarely. His little dust-up with Grenada was a joke, and his bombing of Libya in response to Lockerbie was a travesty of justice (recent scholarship has concluded that the Libyan government most likely had nothing to do with the Lockerbie bombing...but a little girl in Tripoli lost her life over it anyway). Compared to the reckless militarism of both Bushes, Clinton, and Obama, Reagan was a weak kneed peacenik (may we have more of them, please!)

You are right, but when he did threaten to use the military there was NO DOUBT he would pull the trigger with no hesitation and without flinching either.

I just read Ron Pauls book -something like turn swords into plowshares- and I think he is right. Government likes wars and talks us into fighting for them. I would vote today for stopping the war on ISIS, stopping the crazy support for Israel and the wars on IRAQ and IRAN and AFGHANISTAN. We need to spend that money on defense of our country and stopping deficits destroying our currency.

Specific detailed answers? You must be kidding. Take for instance his assertion that the government of Mexico is deliberately aiding in the illegal immigration of violent criminals into the U.S. The closest he has ever come to a "detailed" explanation of this absurd claim was the other night under direct questioning when he stated that he had been told this by unidentified members of the Border Patrol. Some details.

The issue of the card has no bearing on immigration status in the foreign country they are residing in.[3] The purpose of the card is to demonstrate that the bearer is a Mexican national living outside of Mexico. It includes a Government of Mexico issued ID number and bears a photograph and address outside of Mexico of the Mexican National to whom it is issued.

Like it or not this IS happening...Some of these sources are not even USA sources that see and KNOW this is happening...

You realize, of course, that the pamphlets you cite do not in any way support Trump's assertion that the Mexican government is selecting violent criminals (i.e. rapists and murderers) and sending them across the border to the U.S., right? I expect shoddy reasoning from Trump but not from someone on this site.

The first one is the booklet itself produced by the govrernment and the second is an overview produced by one of the Universities. The booklet stresses the dangers of illegal immigration from the physical (weather, terrain) to the human aspect such as human traffickers, coyote guides who leave people to die in the desert, crossing in certain area. Status if apprehended, some places to gain assistance such as the Mexican Consulates and one area stressed is when the employer is a. Not to good about paying or b. the employment is not that expected such as forced prostitution. My lady friend said it was not so much a guide as a warning and directed more to the people coming from the southern end of Mexico who are less knowledgeable about conditions in the north end. Also how to act if apprehended, what to expect etc. It candidly suggested their might be rough treatment when being apprehended. Very interesting document I'm not sure how this was meant to help trump. Seems to do the opposite.

A bit of addition there is an active market in getting Mexican descents with US citizenship to carry packages from a friend across the border. i personally know where that has put people in jail for smuggling narcotics. Especially in the Tijuana area. US Citizens of a non Latino persuasion are often asked to do the same and everyone who lives here gets the warnings on anything but flat mail. I have on occasion but I insist on a thorough search first and only when I know people quite well.

Coming south it's very common to bring items for our vecinos (neighbors) and friends. We have a quite nice duty free limit so it's just a matter of space and weight. Boat parts, chocolate a big favorite and cosmetics. going south is not a big deal. I think in four years I've paid maybe 300 pesos in total.

Going north I take only flat mail and some of the better examples of costume jewelry in small amounts no problem except the cost of UPS or FedEx to Florida.

We used to help locals bring their children up to Shriners Hospital for various needed operations they couldn't afford but that's stopped by the new requirements for the kids to have actual passports a cost prohibitive item. Now the Doctors come south.

The way we legally help out is encourage or provide tuition assistance that gets them a skill then as a graduation present pay for the passport. Legal immigration looks for skills be it baking school, heavy equipment operator, or equivalent of Bachelors or Masters in the Sciences.

The group I'm helping at this time are enrolled from college prep through University in a school which is 50% taught in English.

The target audience of the pdf cartoon book are unskilled and uneducated but hard workers of a manual labor type.

You don't find many dentists or pharmacists using the services of coyotes.

                      Thanks again for sharing that

I read it as well and agree that this document is cautioning people against crossing illegally. It specially states that there are legal ways to cross the border and further advices how to act appropriately if visiting the United States. For those that cross illegally, it advices people to not harm, run away, or lie to law enforcement. I does not in any way whatsoever guide people to evade U. S. law enforcement or take advantage of the welfare system. If this pamphlet had indeed instructed people to break the law, I would have been furious, but it doesn't. Thank you for checking it out, Michael.

There is another book that is 81 pages, that provides specific details on what to say when applying for welfare. This one gives you the tips on how to properly cross the Rio and not drown...Store water for your desert crossing,

Very cleverly worded, as is the other book. I especially like the part of the cartoon pahplet that says "loosley translated" KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. BTW here is the phone number to all these phoney Mexican Consulars.. and if you need more information please tun in to 1570 am..

Like Trump said Mexican leaders are clever, and out leaders are idiots....

By I am glad you are a believer in Mexico not trying to empty their borders of the lesser talented...and helping them get here in the USA...I live in Raleigh and that Mexican Consular is NOT an official "Embassy" of any sort, it is a filtering place to help get Mexican inside the USA and hidden. Keep sending people here like this help them get FREE benefits from US...THAT is how you destroy a country from within.

I wish we could trade some of our never will do wells but I doubt the border would be that porous for south bound traffic.

Current exchange rate 15 pesos to one dollar in what you actually can get. Current wages for a grocery store clerk 105 pesos per day. cost of going to the best university preparatory school in my particular area 1800 pesos per month. The equivalent of our junior college. This involves for my kids a thirty minute walk way to school versus a 14 peso one way bus ride. They asked to have the money set aside for more important things.

                          Return on investment? Priceless.

So this is all Trump has you think? Wow, no wonder he is avoiding answering the question. In the debate he didn't mention pamphlets at all and instead said a little bird told him of the plot. Maybe you should drop him a line tipping him off to the pamphlets. I'm sure he would use it cause he's got nothing else clearly.

Typical response from a school yard bully.
Granted, it could be an act, but if so it's an indication that Trump is wholly unprepared for the office.
Rand Paul had more to complain about than Trump.
In all fairness, the format is flawed, going for superficial sound bite answers that do nothing to qualify any candidate for the office.
In addition, the "moderators" are simpering, liberal statists who belong in a third world country (possibly a clue of US status.)

Agreed. I don't want another President like our current wimp-in-chief who is more than happy to talk about himself and then deflect, deflect, deflect when it comes to actual policy issues - until he's elected.

Kelly's question was what is supposed to come from the media, and getting defensive as a politician is stupid. Just answer the question. Getting defensive means she hit a sore point where he didn't have a pre-fab answer.

"The Donald" needs to be more specific on policy issues. So far, he's been all talk. Kelly merely pointed that out.

Spot on. And his policy and donor history still leave me scratching my head as to why he's trying to run as a Republican. He's given millions to the Clintons - including Hillary. He's openly praised Canada's socialist health system. I just don't see Trump as a Republican.

He's abrasive enough, no question. Policy-wise, however, I just see Donald as a no-trick pony. He loves to hear his own voice, but when you get down to brass tacks, I want something much more substantial from my candidate. We've already had eight years of a reality-show-gone-bad. Of course, I wouldn't mind a bit if he started walking around all those bureaucracies going "You're fired!" ;)

Being the front runner, he should expect the most and toughest questions. Kelly's war on women question was, however, inappropriate, particularly as a first question. There's no doubt that FOX took up the reins to "out" Trump, since it was pretty obvious that the other candidates weren't about to.

Really skilled narcissists, like Bill Clinton, can exhibit phony empathy, sincerity, and likeability, recognizing when abusive language and threats aren't going to work. The lousy ones, like Obama and Trump, are all ego and arrogance, firmly believing that their innate force of personality has no need to tolerate criticism. A narcissist like Trump either fails to recognize, or doesn't care, when the line of control has been crossed, and they've switched roles from winner to loser. I suspect that there are deals Trump lost when he crossed that line in business, but he would just chalk them up to a "fail" on the other party. Narcissists that don't have the Clintonian skills can't change their stripes, so there's no chance Trump will even try to change an approach that has made him a billionaire.

Insofar as violence in Mexico is concerned the lack of violence as compared to the life in the USA is one of the main reasons I stay south of the border. True the statistics were up for a period of time during the height of the cartel wars but the only one that counts is the death of US Citizens living in Mexico per one hundred thousand which remains lower than national average for living in the USA per one hundred thousand and about one half of living in Texas and one fourth of living in Houston and it does include those who were involved in activities criminal in nature.

I've found most of the hype is just media BS. One million of us manage to do just fine year in year out.

His repeating offense comments is torpeoding his chances. The first time it was cute and refreshing to see somoene not playing to the PC crowd, but now it's like a 3 year old repeating a cuss word over and over for attention. NOT presidential.

You would think with the capital he wants to put into it he could hire someone that could, well, not make him PC but polish his image. As it is, if it keeps going the way he is, he's toast. And if he doesn't recognize that, he's lost.

He's going to have to learn to control his mouth if he wants to be President. It's one thing to be blunt and say what you mean, it's another thing to speak without thinking.

I can't believe he deliberately decided to trigger the latest 'blood' controversy. Only start fights on purpose.

So Obama is "presidential"? He cant negotiate buying a taco from a street vendor, let alone with IRAN. We want someone who will tell us like he sees it, and not only in some carefully politically correct way. I am tired of political correctness.

Polishing an image= political correctness. Our country is too far gone at this point, so we will get another pablum president who will sell us out and destroy our dollar. I have given up on expecting anything to change for the better during my lifetime. That being said, I will vote for Trump, Rand Paul, or Ben Carson- whoever makes it to the voting booth.

Rightly so: personal questions/statements by Megyn (particularly) were inappropriate.
As Brook noted, this is a forum for a discussion of issues, and questions should ask for candidates' political principles.

However, Trump hurts himself with distasteful comments. He is on borrowed time.

With me at least, Trump did himself some good by attacking political correctness (AKA professional-victim identity politics) and those who practice it. I hope he will have the courage to follow through and promise repeal of the idiotic "sexual harassment" rules in labor law, as well as the fake-rape rules being imposed on universities by the Dept of Education.

It's time to re-legalize all forms of discrimination (except by government).

His comments - esp. post-debate - went beyond attacking political correctness. He is soon to be done.

Have any of you figured out that Trump is this season's Ross Perot, probably paid under the table from Clinton's Foundation, to help split the conservative vote next year so Hillary may ascend the throne?

Think about it for a few nanoseconds...

I think I can safely say that The Donald is not a personal favorite of many Americans. So where does this popularity suddenly come from? This, it seems to me, is a question of vital importance to ALL of the people who have thrown their hat in the rings. The answer of course is that his ideas are resonating with the American people. And powerful ideas they are when an arguably unpopular character becomes wildly popular when he articulates them.

Candidates and other politicos, ARE YOU LISTENING?

If Trump as president only did two things, I would be happy- (1) Tell things the way he sees them in whatever language he wants (tell us the emperor has no clothes if that is true) , (2) Stick up for the USA 100% of the time

    I don't care much about Trump's comments,or
Megyn What's-her-name's. I think Trump is a loose
cannon on deck. But he's better than Obama (who,
by the way, can't get in there again), or Hillary \
Clinton. Still, I'd much rather have Cruz.

As I've mentioned in previous comments in other conversations, I work in construction in Arizona. Trump is better informed than some would want to believe. A couple of years ago a couple of gentlemen who work for me, whose families are from Mexico showed me flyers, purportedly being strewn about Mexico, encouraging the surplus population to migrate to the U.S. Since flyers are easy enough to reproduce it is lousy proof but interesting evidence of the theory. Certainly it is not proof that Mexico is dumping their prison populations on us but is basis for an ingenious idea. As a poor country it's a great way to dispose of burdensome and costly individuals. It's to the benefit of the criminal as well. U.S. Prisons are like hotel stays compared to Mexico or other central or South American countries. As far as Fox and Megan Kelly are concerned, even my whacky, Sanders supporting socialist sister could see the questions were in a much more attacking tone then what the other debate members received. They aren't even trying to hide it anymore

IMO, The "Donald" is a thin skinned TYRANT. And...while he constantly berates politicians (mostly well deserved) ...he now is one. He made a fool of himself and I think we will see more of that as they move through this process. While he can probably buy a third party nomination, I predict he will never be the GOP guy. If he does go third party, maybe Rand Paul could go Libertarian party. That might give the election back to the GOP.

Unfortunately, I think that only hastens the end. Third party candidates all just suck votes from the center and right - never the left. Unless Bernie Sanders was the Socialist Candidate - I mean Democratic Candidate. As much as I'd love to see 4 viable candidates, all Trump's running will do is guarantee another Progressive in the White House.

Getting rid of the Twelfth Amendment would help though - that one solidifies party-line voting.

        Agreed!. I am disgusted with
the idea of him running 3rd party, but I think he might be planning to do it either for his ego or for Hillary. I have no clue what's in his mind. (P.S. the Rand comment was sarcastic. I like him and the Constitution! )

Its obvious FOX wanted to discredit Trump for their own reasons. My view of Kelly went down a lot when she asked her questions. We are hiring a president to administer the country and protect it. Most politicians just feed us platitudes and feed their own interests and the interests of their backers. I am tired of that. Trump tells it like he sees it, and thats OK WITH ME.

I've been really warming up to Carly Fiorina, who also said of late that Trump has no excuse for whining way he reacted to Kelly.
If ever Trump debates a Dem-a-ling, I hope he comes prepared for all the PC "war on women" bull crap that's going to be dumped all over him.
One thing The Donald succeeded at in that debate: Showing all how to get his goat.

As a former journalist,I feel an attempt at being objective is part of being professional, even if it kills you. Megyn Kelly failed this first rule, it was not her TV show, it was a debate.
Trump's attack on being PC hit a good note with me, I am sick of this PC business, but I would find it hard to vote for him, too much liberal past there.
Megyn Kelly has lost my respect, esp. after viewing her old Howard Stern interview, no class there. To have her plut in to replace the disinvited Trump as a speaker at the upcoming event, is just as stupid as it gets. Maybe Megyn really wants Hillary to wind.

Megyn Kelly sold out somewhere to the big business interests at FOX. Hearing an answer to her questions for Trump werent going to be helpful no matter how he answered them. We want to find out how he would handle leading our country in the future. I will vote for Trump, Ben Carson, or Rand Paul- whichever gets on the ballot. My guess its going to be Bush vs Biden when it comes ddown to it. Hillary is dead in the water.

I think you are right. I have read the CFR already is behind Bush. Oddly, Fox founder's name has appeared on lists of CFR members I have seen. Hello one world government.

I had at one time a complete list of the CFR members, a sort of roster, and his name was on there. I have no idea where I found it anymore. It was enlightening to see who all was on that list, many Republicans. I remember Fred Thompson's name was on there.

http://www.cfr.org/about/membership/r... this is the list of members from 2014 with a search by first letter of last name. I notice Rupert Murdoch is no long listed, nor Fred Thompson, however, John McCain is still on. Interesting bunch. There is also a list of the Federal Reserve Banks available out there.

Keep in mind, not everyone who's a member of the CFR wants to be publicly listed. If they are a household name and are powerful in the media or politics; they are members of the CFR listed or not.

Thanks for the reminder. That goes along with an article I read that said Murdoch of Fox had a "lifetime" membership, yet he is not on the list. I also noticed that not only Bil,l but now also Chelsea Clinton are on the list. Reminds you of AS and all the deal making with politicians.

I hate to agree with Trump on almost anything, but I have to agree Megyn is a bimbo (an attractive but unintelligent or frivolous young woman). When left without a script, the poor thing has great difficulty. I am sure she did not think of the question, it was scripted by her handlers.

I try to put myself in the same place as the person I am trying to understand.
Trump has made decisions that netted him close to 10 billion USD. In the US environment, that should in itself earn him so him some sort of prize, like refusing to quit, don't take no for an answer, and other aspirations we here in the Gulch try to aspire too.
I do not EVEN think Trumps retorts to a mega twat media personality (it is what it is, Kelly did not get that job because of an ability to report the news, let us decide, she got the job because she is willing to prostitute herself out to her NWO leash holders) would be the same as he would, for example, a world leader. FOX News, MSNBC, et al, are not examples of honest reporting worthy of our response. Cmon people, please don't drag the Gulch into PC valley.
