NY Times Review of Rand Paul

I don't think Ayn Rand though much of Libertarians of her era--too wishy-washy.
But if the GOP rejects him as their candidate to beat Hillary, might he bolt the reps and run as the Libertarian candidate?

AR may not have thought much of the Libertarians of her day, but apparently, they thought much of her, and still do.

I like Rand Paul's pragmatic approach to easing the Libertarian ideas into the Republican Party, rather than his father's all or nothing approach. Ron taught, where Rand may be able to influence and implement.

If the Republican's reject him, which by all appearances today they probably will, I just don't know if he can motivate the Libertarians as much as his father did.

It'll be fun to watch in any event and I think he is radically different and better for us than anyone either party can otherwise offer.

This article goes to great lengths to tie Rand Paul to his father's early introduction to politics and his father's ideas. without facts. There were no specifics about what Rand Paul said for example:

"But tucked into Mr. Paul’s lengthy monologue — its 76,000 words would fill a 300-page manuscript — was another narrative, told in a sprinkling of obscure references. He cited"

There was no mention of what he said or why he referenced it, only a law he cited.

I need to know more. I don't want another candidate that remakes himself on a daily basis. I don't think he will bolt, he has done a pretty good job of coalescing inside the beltway, So far he has not stepped on anything too controversial.

I read the first half of it. I hope GOP picks him, so he can get rightwiners plus libertarians. I like Hillary, but I think I would vote for Paul over her. I would actually vote for anyone expressing libertarian ideas.

Rand Paul truly wants to make a difference in this country. His approach is in the libertarian school, His approach to the issues of the country is much preferable to the approach of the current President and the Democrat party.

The Right is disorganized. I predict a Left win in House and WH. But who cares, game over. I sometimes think about why a candidate would want to be captain of a sinking ship.

The problem with your assertion is that House races are local. Now, this year, they will have a large national overtone due to O-care and the continuing stagnation of the economy.
Too early to tell about the next presidential election.

I think he would stay with the Republican Party. As the article emphasizes, he is much more "in it to win it" than his father. The deck is completely stacked against 3rd parties in American politics. If he loses in 2016 he would regroup and run again in the future.
