End Public Education: The danger of learning Statism

I am obviously not a supporter of Common Core in public schools. Common Core is an honest attempt by the political class to bring the standards of all public education establishments up to the same level so everyone attending a government school is getting the same knowledge. The intention as it always is–is a good one. I sincerely believe that the characters involved truly believe they are doing well for humanity and the world’s children. That is because their own educations have taught them to think in such a fashion, and their ignorance as tribal leaders of the human race has misguided their logic. The result of Common Core is and will be that good schools will be pulled down to the level of bad schools making all schools “bad.”

I was talking to a teacher today for a few minutes about how another teacher is moving to another State, partly because she will get better teacher pay and the teacher I was talking to said, "but I told her, 'for now you might get better pay, but it's going to be the same everywhere'. We haven't had a raise in 3 years." I said, "I don't know anybody anywhere who has, so it's not just teachers. This all boils down to taxes and people are sick of paying more and more taxes so I think it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better, for anyone." (She already knows how I feel about privatizing schools etc etc etc.) She said, (She's from Ohio), "I've been talking to people in Ohio and they can't even get levies passed." And I said,"And they shouldn't either." I really wanted to bust out laughing because I wanted to say your name and see if it rang a bell with her. I didn't, but the thought was fun. :)

You devil, you! You should anyway. My husband's cousin teaches high school English in NY, not city, and they don't have common core yet, but soon will. He's supposed to quiz the class EVERY DAY. How do you do that in a literature class where there's a lot of interpretation and class discussion going on?? He HATES it. What he does is he makes a lesson plan, but teaches what he wants to teach. He would like to send his own kids to private schools, but can't afford to do so, and can't leave the area due to family concerns at this time. He said there will not be a phase in period, but get dumped on the kids all at once, so the seniors will have no idea what to expect, while the littler kids become indoctrinated to serfdom. It SUCKS!! That's just my two cents....
