As for the Chinese they are following the standard path of immigration success. I had a Greek explain it to me in Ann Arbor Michigan five decades ago. The family sends over one or two. they work at whatever and get citizenship. They sponsor more of the aga family each getting more and more successful. The individual that told me this was a former Greek Air Force fighter pilot. When I knew him he was a restaurant owner ...three of them. He also hired UofM football players being a big fan. I worked at (then) Gelman Instruments the place that invented the filtering system for Coors Beer. At nights and weekends with nothing better to do I ran the dishwasher and bussed tables. The cooks were primarily Greek immigrants. The company that supplied them with expendables was owned by a cousin. The Chinese immigrants work in buffet restaurants while perfecting English and qualifying in other previously learned skills. I've had a qualified medical doctor bring me chopsticks. Until they passed the boards in the US. Same with the Irish and same with all the others.

The difference. Back then you learned English. Now it's considered demeaning. But down in Mexico the top students learn English and some do it on their own.
