Now for something different - The age of Radical Self Entitlement...

I've been seeing this more and more over the past few years... it's an outgrowth of the socialism movement, where those who have less than others feel self-entitled to what the others have... The Oz-bamacare fiasco proves this - You're a producer, so you have to provide it. No, we don't know how or care, but you have more than me, so you must support me.

... and the more it happens, the more we turn what could be producers into, well, moocher magnets...

What ever happened to having a little self pride, and earning your way, rather than relying on a handout for your survival?

I see this problem, but I think people always think the next generation is decadent. I hope it's not true.

PPACA is a decent albeit imperfect law unrelated to this issue.

I absolutely won't give in to my kids throwing a fit for stuff. Someone had to do work to produce goods and services; so we all have to produce goods and services in fair trade to get other people's goods and services. That's non-negotiable-- not b/c I'm strict, but b/c it's the only way to produce things. You can't fairly expect someone to make you a toy unless you do something for them in a trade both parties agree to.

I know... all I can hope for is that more and more people end up like her. Unfortunately, I've seen an awful lot who aren't. And that's what's scary.

Interesting perspective. Written by a 17 year old. Shows a lot of maturity.

He shouldbe invited to join the Gulch although I'm not sure he will have ever heard of Atlas Shrugged or Ayn Rand.
