Based off numbers from this article 557,000 people gaining 3500.00 USD per month off a minimum wage increase would result in about 2800 more unemployed.

The unemployment numbers come me doing some math based on GDP in the state of North Caralina (additional date from http://www.usdebtclock.org/state-debt-cl...)

Using the GDP to determine the increase in percentage of GDP that the additional 1.949 billion in wages will take from the business owners. Assuming 100% of that loss is made up of fewer jobs you get ruffly 2800 jobs gone in that state.

Rand could have written this scenario. I'm certain that some ideologue screenplay writer from Hollywood actually does. My favorite choreographed backdrop is mr. Obama surrounding himself with the PC mix of law enforcement types, when pitching anything having to do with us giving up our Constitutional rights. Fact is, I never met a line officer in 20 years of professional experience, who believes that the law is served by not enforcing it.

Something about "its only temporary - until things get better" comes to mind. ALL government mandated regulations and policies get passed along to my clients - just the cost of doing business. The older I get the more I realize that most beaurocrats are idiots and the more creative I become running my business.

Minimum wage jobs were never intended to raise a family on. It's entry level wage to acquire some skills and enable the person to move up the ladder. Raising the minimum wage knocks many people off the ladder to land in government handout land. Redistribution of wealth by any other name is still redistribution of wealth.

I personally think his numbers are highly questionable. It is more likely that the only people who would see any change are high school students and few college students. Those are not families. They are as you put it people getting a start. It will however create a new level of entitlement that most think they are entitled too.
