Levy Fights in my Neighborhood

It is one thing to discuss, as we often do in the Gulch about philosophy and politics. But ultimately, it is best to apply the things we learn to real life.

I have a long, and turbulent history with the local politics around my neighborhood. At times it has become very aggressive. Well, today I woke up to find myself in the newspaper, so I responded properly. I thought you guys might enjoy following along.

In short, I have a history of keeping my local public school, which is 7th largest in the State of Ohio from passing tax increases. This has frustrated the levy addicts so we have went at each other rather viciously. My appearance in the paper today was an attempt to eliminate my arguments with a progressive attack trying to paint me as a sexist. So this was my long and detailed response.

I love how a teenage cheerleader was sent out like bait to take you on... She's a child and this is a trap. You will be presented as attacking a child (you've already been blamed for attacking women)...all ridiculous of course. You have your work cut out for you...leftist tactics and their greed for other people's money knows no boundaries. Beware and stay safe, overman. :)

The "Cheerleader" in this case is one of those mad mother types who continously lobbies government to provide a safer world. She's in her mid thirties I think. I have debated them, for years and they can't win, so they have tried to slam my character with various attacks to find a weakness, something I am insecure about. They've tried about everything there is, even violence, which of course backfried dramatically. When I first started all this public education stuff, I had no idea who Ayn Rand was. I found her looking for answers as to why people like this "cheerleader" would not listen to reason. It didn't make sense to me.

My radio friend Doc Thompson introduced me to Atlas Shrugged because John Aglialoro was on 700 WLW talking about the release of Atlas Shrugged Part I. Doc and I were working through his radio station to get a copy of Atlas shown in Cincinnati, because Doc told me what it was about so I wanted to help a film about such ideas be seen by others.

So I figured I should read the book if I'm going to promote the film. That is how I found Ayn Rand.

Now I know why people like that Cheerleader won't listen. Ayn Rand had the answer years ago, and this is why those types of people are terrified of Atlas Shrugged. So I have learned these last couple of years to pull my own Henry Rearden story. I have refused to allow the other side to rule through guilt. Instead I have thrown their hypocrisy back in their face joyfully, and with great spectacle.

I am testing out these Objectivist theories through the school levy work. If it works against them then the strategies can be used on a national platform. That is what I hope to accomplish now.

I plan to beat them with Intellectual Ammunition. That is what that posting is all about. She hit me with a few paragraphs of flimsy leftist arguments in the paper and expected that to stick. I hit her with a three thousand word response that will be seen by more people than read the newspaper in our community.

We'll see how effective it is.

Wow, Overman.. have been a bit busy, but how did I miss this. I served on town council for 3 yrs and have to tell you, I am impressed by the fight you have levied :) As a business woman, who NEVER felt any special privileges by being a woman, I absolutely detest that she used that against you. You want fair treatment, play fair, you want to compete, be at least as good, but mostly better than the one you are competing with... stand on principles and truth...and work your "assess the size of car tires OFF !!!! Success in a nutshell :) This really fires me up. Levy increase.. what ever happened to parental responsibility ??? It's a liberal thinking kind of thing.. like collective kids... The high ranking administrator should be called out by the businesses... boycott a business because they are against a tax increase... what ??? I sometimes want to put a sign on the wall telling people how much I have to pay for all the regulations of compliance to be in business... like, "this is why your cheeseburger cost $7.95 instead of $ 3.95... idiot !!! If we can help in any way, let us know :) And thanks for standing up against these levy increases.... tell them to attend the math curriculum and learn how to work under a budget.......
