The topic of religion and Objectivism have come up in the Gulch many times before... and, it usually leads to some, shall we say, pretty lively debate. Recently, a Galt's Gulch Producer put the question (are faith and Objectivism compatible?) to Dr. David Kelley, one of the world's foremost authorities on Objectivism.

Here is David's his answer from his exclusive Gulch Interview ( http://www.galtsgulchonline.com/posts/31... ):

No. Objectivism holds that reason is an absolute, which means there is no other source of knowledge. That is a point about the method of acquiring and justifying one’s convictions. However, “faith” can also refer to the content of religious views, such as the existence of God or the moral codes promulgated by religious doctrines. In this regard, Objectivism would disagree—it is a secular, this worldly philosophy—but respectfully, recognizing that human beings need a worldview and moral code and that religion has done so, in contrast with the rampant subjectivism and cynicism of our age.
