Margaret Thatcher wanted the British children to have the same opportunities as US children. Her ultimate problem with the welfare state was that 1.children exhibited a lack of direction 2.they did not turn to their parents for guidance.
Welfare actually encourages children to live on the streets. This is what we see in inner cities and is spreading rapidly throughout the US. Underage mothers making decisions that should be made by adults. Then their children encouraged to be underage mothers so the gravy train continues and the responsibility lessons for the parent.
