As I understand it the states can make recommendations, but the con-gress can ignore them and do nothing if it would limit central power or increase liberty. If the states propose something statist, then the congress can move forward and say it was the states' idea to make the fedgov bigger and more powerful.
There is nothing that protects the people in the con con process from the corrupt scum in con-gress, the executive branch, and the judicial branch. It's a scam, imo.
If the people are still stupid enough to trust the fedgov, they will get raped as usual.

I'm a bit troubled because it looks like an Apple commercial with the subtle message that liberals are cool.

Seriously, I would be very interested in insights as to how a constitutional convention could be kept under control so as to not generate a new constitution written by socialists.
