This isn't exactly Objectivism, but seems so parallel to discussions we've had here (including its own proposal for Going Galt!) that I had to post a link and see what other members think of it. I 90% agree with it.
I keep hearing this supposedly anti-sexism argument that says "employers aren't friendly to women because they expect people to work long hours, travel, be available for emergencies, etc." Then they say, "sexism is real. Many employers think women aren't that serious about the job and don't consider them for leadership roles." It's like they're baffled. Why on earth would employers think women are not taking the job as seriously as men?
BTW, I don't accept the premise that working fewer hours and such are "women's issues." But people who can't work long hours, be available for crises, etc are NOT putting in as much effort to the job, so of course they do not end up running things.
Fascinating. I became a female dentist in 1976, when less than 1% of dentists were women. I have never been able to explain why I think that the fact that graduating dentists today are about 50% female is a very bad thing. Obviously I am not a feminist.
