This is a story happening in a school district near me. Three teachers have been accused of having inappropriate relationships with students. The investigation is still open. An assembly was held the other day and the students were told not to talk about what happened and if they posted anything on social media they could be arrested and face charges as well. The students protested (with help from the ACLU) claiming it was intimidation and a violation of their first amendment right to freedom of speech. Yesterday a number of students walked out and spent the day outside the school to show their concerns. The school has recanted their warning. I'm wondering if the students were really fighting for their first amendment right or if they just wanted a day off...
