Milken was the fall guy that protected the entire Wall Street elite from prosecution. He should not have been the one prosecuted.
I recall attending local sessions of the RTC. They spent all their time discussing the real estate portion of the SandL "problem", while the majority of the assets being dealt with were swept under the rug and coverted to Wall St assets and bonuses. I think it gave the banksters the green light to expand their unsavory, irrational acts that led to the more recent collapse and bail out.
And remember there was another fall guy that accepted blame and kept John McCain out of jail, too.
Of course, this article, written by the winners, continues the cover up. Millken was the competition that Wall St had to eliminate. that is what the banksters do. They can't compete, so they destroy politically.

Milken was a political prosecution. Much like the anti-trust attacks on Xerox and Microsoft. Compare what he did to what Fannie and Freddie did and it is obvious.
