Movie Recommendation: The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec
Disclaimer 1: I am a fan of Luc Besson's films.
Disclaimer 2: I don't care if a film is subtitled.
Disclaimer 3: I have the cold from hell, so I could be fever-raving.
Last night, Joan and I wanted to watch a movie.
I went to Netflix, Sci-fi and started scanning titles that I had not seen before.
I saw a listing for an oddly named film "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec", and decided to hover over it for the info box.
I expected not to see anything of interest, but against my expectation, the first thing I saw was "Director: Luc Besson".
I clicked on the movie, not needing any further info.
"The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec" is a 2010 film written and directed Luc Besson (The Big Blue, La Femme Nikita, The Fifth Element).
It is intended to be the first of three film adaptations of the 1970's popular French comic book series "Les aventures extraordinaires d'Adèle Blanc-Sec".
Lately, Besson has concentrated on a lot of producing of movies which are handled by his Europa studios (Taken 1, 2, and 3, Transporter 1 and 2, From Paris with Love, etc).
So I was thrilled to see a recent film he actually directed.
Over the top story, goofy humor, witty dialog, beautiful visuals, CGI purposefully made to look like stop-action animation, high adventure... I loved this movie.
Don't look for anything here other than enjoyment.
Let me know if you take the time to see it.

We just watched it, and it is delightfully funny.
What a treat!
