"$3.8 trillion, really??" Increasing to 5 trillion in 10 years. President Obama proposes spending 5.8 trillion in 10 years, making this proposal look good, if it weren't for how the money were spent.
The funny thing is if we could just freeze spending at a nominal 3.8 trillion, all our problems would melt away. Shoot, we could even stick to 3.8 trillion indexed to the GDP deflator, and our budget problems would be under control.
I'm very concerned it won't stop until there's a mini-crisis involving a de facto partial default via loose monetary policy. Please stop the spending now!
"The new normal of slow economic growth and low expectations is unacceptable. We know we can do better," the House Budget Committee, chaired by Rep. Tom Price of Georgia, said in a report accompanying the proposal.
GOP, GET OUT OF THE WAY! Any budget that spends more than one trillion in a year is too big and exceeds the limitations of the constitution. That reduced amount is over $3,000 for every person legally resident in America. Reduce spending and reduce taxes, kill the fed, and let the free market correct the mistakes of the past 100 years. As I have predicted hundreds of times in the years leading to this gang of thieves in con-gress, the GOP is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
I love the "get out of the way" comment. Federal money (other people's of course) is more addicting than heroin to these looters. The media is complicit in delivering this message. Unfortunately, most people believe that they should get what they can because big business is getting theirs from the politicians. It's a tough sell. Not to anyone here but out in the country.
I agree with you. I'll point out that most of the money goes to people who don't think they're looters. "We need to cut gov't waste, but not my grant to research a way to catch cancer early and save lifes. It's those other people who are looters and moochers." And the cancer researcher is right, a great person doing something wonderful for humankind. But if we spent gov't money on every worthwhile program, it would lead to a crisis. We're on that path now.
