This a good example of the juncture of 'the War on Drugs' meeting the needs of the Veteran. The VA will not prescribe Xanax to anyone for any reason. Suicide prevention is not a high or even moderate priority for the VA and never has been.

The last time I did the numbers in 95, Vietnam veteran suicides was in the range of 350,000 compared to the 54,000 + KIA. You send young men to fruitless wars, you're killing them, either suddenly or slowly, but you're killing them.

As to this b**ch, end her involvement with veterans.

Pirate you beat me to it. My son (active duty sgt in the Army with several tours in Afg and iraq), was furious. This is so illustrative of the whole lack of serious treatment at the VA, saying it was a joke to "deal with it" is BS. She needs to be fired. Along with a lot of the rest of them. Assholes...
