WHY WHY WHY?? AS3

I just finished watching my Kickstarter BLURAY. WHY WHY WHY was this cast assembled to do this awful screenplay. Who's nephew is Kristopher Polaha? The casting is completely wrong, the script is boring, the directing is less than webisode.

I know this movie did not have the budget necessary to be as good as the first two movies. If that was the case, they simply should not have done it at all. They should have waited to get another 5 million and get a better cast. I am just not sure what they were thinking. I am so sorry that I donated my money to this crap. It makes me want to leave the Gulch in absolute shame. I see that others on this forum think the same thing. I HIGHLY recommended the first two installments to very educated people (lawyers, university professors, doctors, even a rocket scientist) and most of them liked the movies and were happy to see them finally produced. This is a total and utter embarrassment.

I went to see it in the theater and wanted to walk out. I remember apologizing to my date during the film. Upon my receipt of the DVD this past week, I decided to give it another chance. I wish I hadn't.

All I can say is "BOO."

Thanks for the feedback Punchiest. Maybe someday we'll publish a book about all of the trials and tribulations of bringing Atlas to screen.

We know the films are flawed and we're hoping to make up for it with a 3 season mini-series, 13 episodes per season. Stick around. We'll get it right.

I don't know who sdesapio is, but if you had anything to do with the movies, I think you did a great job. Not perfect, but considering all the restraints (time, money, politics, etc), I abslolutely have loved having the saga on the screen. Most of all, details aside, you stayed true to the intent and content of the book. I am very grateful that you did it, and that people like you exist.

Scott is one of the people that helped make the movie happen. He is a great guy who we are indebted to for his time and dedication it telling the story.

The movie, while not the image most of us have in our mind does open dialog and prompt people to read the book. I admire the people who at their own expense thought the story was so important to tell that they funded most of it themselves. THey could have simply stopped at ASII which is what was going to happen but at least the story can prompt others to ask questions and read the book. After each movie sales of the book skyrocketed so it has brought more people to the philosophy..Hopefully this film series will give another person the opportunity and incentive to produce a better version in movie or mini series format. I admire the good people who brought this to the big screen.

I am sure that there were plenty of problems involved. So this thread knows, I was SUCH a fan of the 1st two movies I had to kick in money for this 3rd one. I just don't think the casting of John Galt was accurate. He just does not seem smart enough to "stop the motor of the world." He has a very very blank look to him.
My post was written late at night and done angrily, so I can admit I was a bit harsh and I am sure there was a lot of hard work put into the making of this installment. I just felt the formula was good the way it was and had hoped for something a little less "rushed" in feel. This book probably needed 4 movies to make it right.

There is probably a little bit of your comments in all of us. I went to the Vegas premier and loved the first time I saw it. Then I became more critical each time I saw it. It was fun watching the movie with the actors and seeing first hand how dedicated the people were who made it possible. Now I try to view the movie through the eyes of someone totally unfamiliar with Rand. The type of people whose brain is still working and not corrupted with liberal thought. I look at it from the perspective of being grateful it finally got on film and hopeful someone in the future now has a basis to make one better. Hopefully sooner than 50 year from now and before our country emplodes fulfilling Rand's prophecy. As an investment advisor I rented a theatre to show parts II and III. Clients loved it. any bought the book. Some liberal clients stayed one because they heard something 30 years ago that Rand was bad and closed minded drinking the socialist Kool Aid. We had about 125 attend. I was amazed at how it prompted good debate. Some liberals who attended seemed to convert or were at least open to looking closer at her writings. The movies exposed to me that some of my clients, even thought they profit from stick purchases and want to make money are anti- capitalistic This amazed me because of the contradictions involved. I thought the movie preached to the choir a little more than I would have liked. Including Beck and Hannity I am sure turned off a few people otherwise open to learning. In the end, yes the movie could have been better. Unless the producers are prepared to invest millions and go to a multi episode mini series Rands book is just too difficult for anyone to produce in three two hour movies. Unfortunately compromises needed to be made. Frankly I wanted to see Project X explained. Most people watching the movie did not understand why the lights were going out in the city. I just tell them to read the book and hopefully the image from the movie can help them formulate a clearer picture in their minds. The movie gets people to think and in the end that was Rand's goal too.

I can see where you're coming from,Punchiest. When I first saw John Galt on the screen, I was shocked, as he was nothing like I pictured John Galt. But here's where I think it was great. What you saw as a blank look, I saw very differently. I think that John Galt had solved all the mysteries and contradictions and was a man who was relaxed and full of the joy of living- just the opposite of intense. I think that's the way Polaha came across- very relaxed about his incredible achievement of the motor because he knew that's what free men are capable of.
Truth is, I felt the acting in Part 2 was a bit harsh and intense at times.
Of course, the fact that Polaha was handsome and extremely masculine didn't hurt a bit

I quit a job I was doing because after watching installment 2, I thought I was being too altruistic. I wanted to be that company's John Galt! It was so inspirational! I wish we could have seen less of the gulch and more about Project X. I wish we could have had less preachy dialogue and less narrative. But..like everyone says, "wish in one hand and crap in the other and see what fills up faster."

I guess I am just bugged by the casting of Galt. I just expected him to be a little older maybe....he looks too much like a failed rock star than a genius that is capable of stopping the motor of the world. Even if the casting could not repeat itself from one movie to the next, maybe getting people that resembled the original cast member would be better. The Mousch casting in pt 1 was PERFECT..he looked exactly how I pictured him. That is one example. Oh well...I will be happy to see the mini-series if it ever gets made.

Good points. Many of us feel the same way. I liked Jason as Hank Reardon in Part II. He had the gruff image I pictured in the book. Fransisco in III was too old and miscast. I could not imagine Dagny in a steamy relationship. Dagny 1 was great but I now have a difficult time imagining her in an orange jump suite as a lesbian in a female prison. It was just too difficult to get all the actors back for a program filmed over 6 year. I loved Ellis Wyatt in part II. I heard they wanted to get the first Fransisco back but he had gained considerable weight. Also the blonde from Modern Family was lined up as Dagny but backed out at the last minute.+1 for your dedication to the cause.
